Post subject: How does xml site map work

Hi there.
I am having a bad day. I am trying to find out how to do my site map and how i put my site map in google webmaster tool.
In submit a sitemap in google webmaster all my links are broken and I dont know why. It was fine three days ago.
After allot of reading on the web I found article about xml sitemap wich i dont know what it is. One web page offers to do an xml sitemap for my site the question is what do i do whit this xml site map.
What is my next step. Do i put this xml site map into my site and how do i do that
Do i put the xml site map into google webmaster tool and how do I do that.

Hi
I use http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ to generate my site maps.
Download the sitemap generated at that site
Then make a webpage on your site with the sitemap on it and upload your sitemap as an xml document to your website
you can name it sitemap.xml
Once you have uploaded the sitemap page, submit that URL to your google webmaster tool account
It really is as simple as that

Glad I came across this post, thanks so much for this. It is so much better than what I was using to generate my site maps. It is extremely user friendly!
