Post subject: Whats Up With Google And The New Keyword Tools?
|
|
|
Hey all, I've been using the google adwords keyword tool for several months now:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
and recently, i found this NEW tool by google which is also used to find relevent key words:
http://www.google.com/support/sktool/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=114875
The question I have is... the monthly search results that each one shows is dramatically different from one another! I mean... the results are not even close.
For example, if you look up "computer maintenance and repairs" in the google adwords keyword tool, it shows a local search of 590, and global of 1300. These results are monthly, according to G.
However, if I search this same term in the new "search based keyword tool", it shows no results at all!
This isn't the only discrepancy however...in fact, I couldn't find a single search term that both tools agreed on in terms of monthly search volume. None of them even came close in terms of monthly search volume.
So...my question is, which one is accurate? Which one should I (we, SEO folks) be using?
Any input would be appreciated.

I dunno. Perhaps the lesson here is that a sense of humor in essential in any kind of SEO work.
The fact that the data is expressed in numbers tends to give an impression of precision that may not represent the reality of keyword research.
If we focus on mastering our topic and serving our visitors, and create tons of good content, we'll probably type most of the right keywords anyway. _________________ The best nature on the Net, delivered to your inbox.

The best thing to notice is Advertiser Competition and not Search
Volume which is highly inflated |

I'm reading a book on Digital Photography. The Author says this phrase:
"Where do these people come from"?
This is in reference to all the emails he gets from people asking why he has not included the photographs in his book.
The answer is simple: He has. But the people reading the book are skipping the chapter introduction which tells them where to find this information.
And that is the case here. You simply need to learn to use the tool. If you will take the time to read the help files Google will tell you exactly how to use the tool and how it is different from the other tools.

Google has many keyword tool variants. But they are only as good as the operator.
In the real world of real sales where I come from there is a simple little Acronym to help describe this problem.
RTFM or RFM
And I can't really spell it out any better. _________________

Since you apparently don't seem to understand the working of the new keword tool or because it doesn't give you the result you expected, why not stick with the former one? _________________ Enjoy FREE Games & Win an iPod |
