Post subject: New Clothing Company Seeks Help with Affiliate Industry

Several months ago I was introduced to the idea of affiliate marketing through a business acquaintance of mine. The idea intrigued me. My company has a clothing boutique in Miami where we sell our designs and it only made sense that there were essentially online sales people who received commission. The past couple of months while my online store was being built I have been trying to recruit affiliates. I put together a package that I thought would be more than acceptable and seemed to beat almost every other in the clothing industry. I have posted my program on forums, called major companies and emailed individuals directly. However, it seems as if the industry is very slow moving. I am having a hard time understanding if the problem is my program, where I am trying to meet people, or the market. I would be very interested to hear people’s comments regarding the best places to meet affiliates whether it is online, or at a specific conference, or even a directory I would need to purchase. If you believe you can offer some insight on how I can improve my program to make it more appealing please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Wishes,

I've moved your topic to the Site Review forum as it seems appropriate. However, if you are just "promoting", your message should have been deleted.

Hi Eva, Your site looks good. I like the high quality photos. I can't see anything obviously wrong with your affiliate program.

However, when I visited your site, the main page took 21 seconds to load. (I'm in Australia on broadband.) If I were a potential affiliate I'd be worried that the slow load time would scare away potential customers. I think you need to dump the flash intro and give visitors something interesting to see MUCH faster.

Experienced affiliates will want to know what your conversion rate is. You need to be able to convince them the sales process is OK and that the site is achieving good sales. Is it?

(Don't worry about Wally. He gets a bit grumpy sometimes because he gets tired of fending off spammers.)

I truly am not trying to promote my program. I did place a link to my program in order to get feedback however my main purpose for the post was to get insight on where I should be looking for affiliates. Who best to ask but the affiliates themselves where the best place to promote programs are. I have gone through and read posts but most seem driven to just sell other products or sign up for one of those big affiliate programs. From what I have read and understand from this industry is that affiliates do not sign up from advertisers posts on forums. It seems like everyone is willing to consult me on my programs for "minimal fees". I am truly just trying to get a better understanding of the industry.

I actually found a way around the loading problem. The online store can be found at the web address evadanielle.com/store. I have had several affiliates voice their concern about this problem. The system that I am using, affiliateproscript, allows the affiliate to send the tracking link of for the regular site address or just the stores address. The main site I had built in flash to give the user an entire luxury experience so they can get to know the product. The store I had built in regular html. This page loads much much quicker. As far as my sales I have yet to fully promote my online store so I can not use this as a proper indicator. We have a decent following that is growing. The reason I opened an online store was because of the demand I was seeing.

Thanks for the input Allan it is much appreciated.
