i am a little doubtful about how the links work in the process when affiliate are marketing the owner's products. it is said that links get stolen or replaced
or completely discarded and the affiliates lose commision. how to protect the links and know the right process is my query? can somebody clarify?

Links are hijacked when a hacker strips out your cookies and replaces them with their own. Or if a person comes to your site and sees a link and recognizes it for something they want to buy. They replace the code with their own.
You shouldn't worry about it too much because there is not much you can do about it.
Many of the "Free" toolbars and software programs or things downloaded off of limewire, or rapidshare, or wherever ... contain spyware and adware that will mess with affiliate links.
Ethical Companies will ban the thieves and keep the commissions but this won't help you because the commission is gone.
It's a lot like the Government fining the bad guys who commit white collar crime. They lose their money, but the money doesn't go back to the "victim".
A lot of redirect scripts strip out the cookies, certain browsers and security software will strip out cookies. And you have no control over what is on other peoples computers.
Virus, Spyware, Adware, all of these things can potentially "steal" your commissions.
So what can you do? Well you can "cloak" your links but most software is just a redirect method. It can help some. I use it occasionally.
I would never use a 3rd party service because it adds one more potential "break" in the process.
You can focus on contextual advertising like Adsense, Adbrite, or whatever and hope the javascript tracks properly.
You can start you own Ebay Store or other Ecommerce site.
But the bottom line is cookies are a problem and will continue to be a problem. There is no one really good foolproof method to track and pay commissions.
And lately the trend is for companies to lower their commission payout and extend the cookies. I don't see this as beneficial at all.
This is NOT an easy business and you WILL make sales for others and not get paid. _________________

You really did hit it right on the spot. There are lots of hijacking going on right now. Even if someone uses his own domain to redirect his affiliate link doesn't seem to be working properly today.
The free use of "whois" gives tha hackers the ability to track the IPs of the site thus again hijacks the links.
Using free masking/redirection services might somewhat keep your affiliate link in tact.
I suggest you use dot.tk or tinyurl. _________________ RUSH Delivery Within 24-48 Hours!

All you need to do id go to tinyurl.com and submit your link and they'll give you a tiny version
Yes there is a lot of affiliate link theft but I think what goes around comes around. You steal my commissions in your bid to build your business and surely enough someone else will steal your commissions.
I use rediects but if they really want to steal your commission they will.
here is a step by step tutorial on how to cloak your affiliate links using HTML redirects _________________ Free Marketing Videos

Yes unfortunately there are affiliate crooks out there in the Net. And personally, I would never advise any affiliate marketer to market with a naked affiliate link. First of all it looks amateurish, and second all it exposes to thieves even more. Even if you just use a simple redirect like tinyurl to redirect your links that's better than nothing. Tinyurl is just one, there's many paid and free programs that you can use to manage your affiliate links. Here's a few free methods that I have compiled, but be advised that free services have the right to discontinue their service at any time.

Simple solution, spend like 8 dollars at the most per year and buy a domain name. You can even buy .info for 2 dollars a yr.
You will never have to worry again.
It will pay for it's self in one purchase. _________________ Wealthy Affiliate Review & $1 Trial Offer |

This can be a big problem if you own a Clickbank hoplink. However, the best thing to do is buy a domain name from Go Daddy to forward and mask your affiliate link. Get the .info ones because it's only $1.07 per year.
To see how you can forward and mask on Go Daddy, go on to You Tube and type in "Go Daddy Domain Forwarding". There's at least two videos that show you how. _________________ Easy To Do Niche Affiliate Marketing |
