I'm checking my adsense ads and tried to go to www.mmpowomenshea.com and it goes NOWHERE! Now, obviously someone paid for this ad but what good is it? I certainly don't want my visitors clicking on a dead link! Is Google just using filler ads?

Another question since I just noticed (duh) that a person can scroll through the ads. WHERE have I been? So anyway, if the visitor doesn't even realize there are more ads, isn't that a waste of the advertiser's $$$.

Plus I've seen some ads lately that are TOTALLY unrelated to my site...like out of nowhere. Do we have any recourse if this is happening too much? (other than the competitive ad filter) We used to be able to complain about an ad but I guess that's long gone by now. I've been using adsense for at least 6 years now and the last 2 years have been quite a rollercoaster trying to keep on top of things!

Display URL's don't always match the destination URL even though they are supposed to.

There are a lot of reasons why a site could be down at the moment and the Adsense Ad is still appearing. A lot of businesses outsource there CPC Campaigns so the right hand is not talking to the left hand. And that's just the way it is some times.

What you can do about ads not to your liking is this:

Remove additional Ad Units... in small niches there may not be enough targeted ads.

Improve the quality of your own site. Google likes to send the better ads to the sites they consider better.

Filter out ads that are not to your liking. You can filter up to 200 URL's.

Google has a feature where you can target phrases within your pages so they can better target your site - supposedly.

I'm not a fan of banner ads, but many companies will not create banner campaigns so you can try them as opposed to text in certain ad blocks.

Adsense was never intended to be anything more than an additional monetization method for content sites. You have to learn what works and what doesn't.

I have two sites with the exact same template, one kicks raw hiney with adsense the other just frustrates me... different niche... different content... same template, colors, layout.
