Just letting you know that Microsoft's new Bing search engine is online now: http://www.bing.com .

It seems to be the old MSN/Live dressed up a bit. From the searches I did, it looks as though having your keywords in the title is even more important than it is at Google.

Keywords used in anchor text (the clickable words) in external links seem to be more important on Google than they are on Bing.

I haven't seen anything yet that makes me want to change what I'm doing as far as SEO goes.

Anyone else spot anything interesting?

Hi Allan,

It is interesting that I rank on page one or even position one in some cases for sub-domains with my keyword in the url. Article Writer is an example of this. I guess time will tell if Bing gives Google any competition, but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

I'm in Australia. When I search for "article writer" (without quotes) the No.1 result is an Australian site.

Like Google, Bing is skewing the search results depending on where you live.

Are you referring to http://www.team-schuman.com/article-writer/hands-off-article-marketing.html ?

I don't see team-schuman.com anywhere in the first 5 pages of results, searching from Australia.

Allan,

I show up as #1 here in the states on Google for article writer with this url: article-writer.team-schuman.com and #1 on Bing.

I slipped down to #9 for blog writer for this url:
blog-writer.team-schuman.com

#10 for content writer: content-writer.team-schuman.com

I am actually #1 for all 3 here in the U.S. on Gooogle

It's interesting how different the results are here.

From Australia, you're not in the top 10 for "content writer" or "blog writer" (without quotes) on both Google and Bing.

For "content writer", a .COM.AU site is No.1 in both Google and Bing.

Perhaps you should set up an Australian division? The weather is nice in Queensland this time of the year. Smile

Perhaps I should.Smile At the very least I should come to Australia some time and check it out. My wife has a very good friend who moved back to Sidney about 5 years ago.

Some are of the opinion that BING is a rehashed product. But I don't think so. Search wise, Bing has crossed the market share of Yahoo too.

I'm hitting about 5% Bing Traffic for several sites as measured by Google Analytics... not exact but close. This is about equivalent to their existing market share so ... maybe the momentum is not really there. I like Bing... but we'll see.

I'm kind of liking Bing right now! I'm showing up on page one for a few of my keywords.

This is kinda my feeling with Bing! It seems just okay to me but maybe I missing what all the hype is about.

Microsoft has just announced Bing, as it desperately tries to find a way to take market share away from Google. It’s best to think of Bing not as a search engine, but a decision engine–which is exactly how Microsoft is pitching it.

I'm trying to figure Bing out as well. Maybe it just takes time getting used to, as with anything new.
