Hi,
whats the rule of thumb for keyword searching on wordtracker? Should i look for keywords not less than 100, 200 or 500 daily searches?

Search engine myths die hard, and this one is certainly an old one. This myth is based on the meta-description tag. Many search engine marketers discovered that if they repeated a keyword phrase more than three times in the meta-description tag, then the search engines would penalize a page for keyword stuffing. At least that is the origin of the myth as I know it.
To know more on this putonyourgoggles helps a way to beat the google slap and get great quality score.

Doesn't matter. You simply have to determine if there is enough traffic to make money from your business plan.

If you sell used Boeing Jumbo Jets to foreign countries the number of searches could be very very small. And you may only need to obtain one customer to make a huge commission.

Conversely if you are selling a consumable like Laser Printer Toner that is researched by the masses you may need enormous amounts of keyword searches to be successful.

It all depends on the theme of your site.

It's not so much how many are searching for it, as much as it is how many other sites are providing this info for your potential visitors.

If you have a Demand of 400 monthly searches, but find that only 20 webpages offer info on these exact keywords, then go for it!

If you have a Demand of 400 monthly searches, but find that there are over 2000 pages on the web with that exact keyword, then it's gonna be harder to compete for.

You will best score for keywords that have higher Demand than Supply.

Now, suppose you are an artist who sells painting for $15,000 a painting.

If you only find that there are 30 people a month searching for 'realistic portrait paintings of pet ferrets'.

If the supply is a bit higher than the demand (in this case), that is OK. Yep a Demand of 30 is typically pretty low.

However - Considering you are gonna make $15K for each converted web visitor, a high Demand wouldn't be 'that' necessary.

The 'secret' is to find keywords with a much lower Supply than the Demand. Also try to find long tail keywords, as these grab up very specific searchers and/or buyers.

Hope this makes sense ok!
