Post subject: Affiliate or not?
|
|
|
My site, www.1st-for-dubai-holidays.com has been set up to drive enquiries for Dubai holidays and flights to my online travel agency and is only 16 days old.
What are the members thoughts about adding related affiliates to the site? I am showing some competitors anyway by adding Adsense, but thought that joining some affiliate schemes might monetise the site even further, but have had no experience of affiliate schemes so dont' know whether they would work on my type of site which is primarily very content heavy.
Any views you have would be welcome! |

i would definately go with related but non-competitive affiliate programs like travel books, luggage, and travel accessories sprinkled through your site. I might also include one of the big online services, like Expedia, Orbitz, etc. on the links page.
Very nice site, great content too.

Thanks for your advice Debs and your kind comments. I will look into the affiliate programs available for those areas and also Expedia or perhaps Opodo. Although they are almost competitors I might as well try and get a slice of their cake too.
Have a great new year.

You have chosen to specialise on Dubai holidays, and (thankfully) not tried to take on Expedia head-to-head...
It's very easy to cut off revenue streams for fear of losing traffic to the competition. Yes, related but not competing in theory, but better to cooperate with "the competition" in this case.
It's a case of, if you can't beat them, join them. Having said that, in your own niche, you probably will be able to beat them.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
