Post subject: Need help about Spybot
|
|
|
They suggested me to install both Ad-ware and spybot. Ad-ware is great and Spybot is also great but I have see so many lists which should be removed....I am not sure which to keep and some need to be removed. I checked some files shows
"Threat: Browser hiacker", from CnsMin
some other says, "Threat: Adware/possible spyware" eBay toolbar
"Threat: annyoing spyware" from Gator
"Threat: Asware/possibly spyware" from hotbar.com
All those should be removed? I am really afraid to make mistakes if I removed any of them.
Thank you for help! |

cnsmin - YES See http://allentech.net/parasite/CnsMin.html
ebay toolbar - up to you
Gator - YES (show popup ads)
Hotbar - YES (shows popup ads and such, but has nice features so it's up to you) |

This is your decision, so proceed at your own risk...
I think the real question is "why are you downloading all these add-ons when you don't know what they are doing?"
If it were me, I'd delete the lot, with the possible exception of anything from Google, ebay or Alexa. More importantly, think carefully before you install anything else.
As they say "nothing in life is free". Ask yourself what you are being asked to pay in place of money.
Just my opinion,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

I agree with the two above. If you ask for a toolbar, like Google, Alexa, or eBay, and you understand what they do and why they are there, fine.
But, anything else is robbing your computer of resources, and taking your independent decisions away when it comes to surfing the internet.
Gator and Hotbar are notorious for diverting text on websites to their own affiliate links, popups too numerous to mention on a constant basis, taking search engine results and converting to their own results, among many other things.

Is there anything I can do on my website to prevent this from happening when people who are infected with these programs visit? |
