Post subject: I need a good Affliate tracking program
|
|
|
I want something small, and cheap. Here is why:
I am a programmer by trade. I have a few small apps, and some ebooks that I am thinking about selling. I have some friends who run programming websites. I think that they could probably sell my product for me. So I need some way of tracking affiliate leads and sales from them.
I am not planning on launching a large affiliate program. I will probably not even publicise my affiliate program. Only word-of-mouth to my associates.
So, anyone suggest anything? Something cheap (or free) and easy to implement. I don't need every feature under the sun. Just the basics... tracking clicks, sales and something to track payments. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Why not ask your your potential partners what features they would expect? If you don't give them the tracking they want, they might not play ball.
Secondly, despite your programming skills, have you considered ClickBank? Just because you don't want a large public program, doesn't mean you need discount them...
They are cheap and easy to set up, and have the advantage of independent tracking (with added trust). If others choose to join, does that matter?
Cheers,

I don't mind if others join... the more sales the better
I kinda forgot about clickbank. I have been a bit leary of them lately... but I was just in poking around yesterday. I will see what their rules are and how things work... it might be a good shot... _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Hello Eric.

I think most of the issues are more of a concern to affiliates rather than merchants.
If you're anything like me, you sometimes like doing things (programming wise) yourself, because you can. The problem is, this isn't always the easy way. The people who can combine marketing with techie skills have a huge advantage online, but at the end of the day, there are only so many hours available.
If you have to decide which one to outsource, I'd choose the techie aspects any day. The marketing is what needs to be kept DIY - even if you do have an affiliate program.
Cheers,
