Hi - I would appreciate some (any) feedback on my site. Last month my average visit was 14,000 and is increasing every month. I've got close about 90 pages of content and get nice positive feedback from visitors but my conversion rate is low.

Adsense sneaks up and down. When I check my affiliate stats there are lots of impressions and 'medium' clicks but very few conversions.

Any hints and tips?

There is this mentality that you can just make a site throw up a bunch of canned articles, throw in some adsense, get some links and make a lot of money.

Not true.

Looks to me like someone would come to your site for ideas. But there is no real reason for them to crack open the wallet and spend anything.

I'm new at website building and affiliate marketing. That's why I'm at this site and that's why I've asked for advice.

If I could make a site, throw up a bunch of canned articles, throw in some adsense, get some links -
hey, If I could make, throw, and get this technical stuff I wouldn't need to come here for advice.

Thanks for your post. I'm impressed - with myself that is. It has taken me 14 months and a lot of
reading and hard work (to mention a few) to 'throw up this site'.

I've made some mistakes, sure. I'd just need to know what they are.

Regards

Mary-Lou, looks like a neat idea for a website. You've got some neat ideas, like the pirate ship cake, and others.

I guess I'd ask, "What conversions are you looking for?" You're money makers look like adsense and some related products (like pirate costumes and toys on the pirate cake page). Are there any books from clickbank or amazon that you could offer as "recommended resources"?

The adsense and related products look more like secondary to your good ideas. If your money makers were more related to your ideas, you might see more conversions.

I know most of the "experts" say to make your adsense ads look like content. But since your content is more reference-like, maybe putting your adsense in a different color box would make it stand out -worther testing.

Good luck,
Kris

Kris

Thanks for your feedback - I really appreciate it.

You are correct, my income sources are Adsense and Affiliate Programs - party supplies, costumes etc.

The conversions I was looking for are these current ones - there are plenty of clicks going through to merchants but low sales.

There are books (cake decorating etc) I can incorporate as money earners. This is a good idea and I will focus on incorporating these - thanks.

I am currently writing my own ebook which will consist of more content i.e. games, recipes etc. This will be 'my product' which I plan to add to Clickbank and get my own affiliates.

Thanks also for your suggestion on the Adsense colours. I will test these.

I just wasn't sure where to concentrate my work on at the moment - I just needed some direction on which to focus.

Again, thanks for your feedback.

Regards

Your site is very nice but you have empty white space on the right side. I think you should put more google ads there. Put ads on each and every page. I prefer them on the side rather than in the middle of some content.
