I read somewhere that camcorders are hard to sell via affiliate links due to
competition, plus their relatively high cost means less sales, plus people browse a lot many sites before they decide to buy.
anyone got experience of this?
I wonder about marketing camcorders or going for a different niche that has links to many more varied lower cost items? |

Camcorders would be a harder sale then some lower cost items. The profit per sale is good so alot more sites do promote it.
I think alot of people would rather buy a high end product at a store so if they have a problem they can return it and not ship it back. If you can offer a good price difference between online and offline you can make sales but not as many as lower cost items.
It never hurts to try but do not think your going to get a high rate per view for sales. Just work on getting alot of traffic so you make some sales. _________________ Surveys that pay

A major thing to take into consideration is how well you think you can market this product.
If you know your stuff when it comes to camcorders, then you'll probably have an easier time converting. If you can provide quality content that your potential buyers can relate to or find useful then give it a shot.
there's good money to be made in that highly competitive niche.
Good luck,

If you're considering camcorders then it might be no harm to be selling them through one of the industry standard retailers to help build trust as that is always a problem with higher ticket items. bhphotovideo.com don't have a publicly advertised affiliate program but they do have one. I would suggest emailing them directly about it.
I don't work in this area myself but the reason I know about it is that a friend of mine was an affiliate of theirs. He mostly sold the pro/semi-pro video stuff but he said that being associated with a well known brand in the industry like theirs was a big help. |
