Hello all,
In some of my keyword searches I've come across a few misspellings that seem to have a good search rate and low competition as compared to the correct spellings, which have a great amount of searches, but also has a huge amount of competition.
My question is how do I use these misspelled words to gain that traffic?
I want to use it without looking like I don't know what I'm doing in this area, but also without having to point out to a potential customer or client that hey you miss spelled the word. That may not put them in a real pre-sell kind of mood.

I'm certainly no expert on misspelled words – oh! I do misspell enough of them, but you know what I mean
I'm not sure that it is worth targeting misspelled words these days as Google returns that “did you mean . . .” message.
As you say, having misspellings on your page does not give the best of impressions.
I read somewhere that the best way to do it was to just have them in your keyword tag, but I have no idea of the merit of that suggestion. _________________ Exchange Value! All The Tools = Business Success.

Hey DebtFreeMe,
A few ways that I take advantage of profitable misspelled keywords is to mix them in my content. I definitely WOULD recommend having the correct spelling version in major sections like headlines & sub-headings. However, you can salt & pepper misspelled keywords within you content so that search engines can pick it up. By mixing it in your content in this subtle type of way, you are not so obvious with it. Even if a reader picks it up - they would know most likely view it as a minor typo...because it is confirmed that you do actually know the correct spelling of your word because it is present in major sections like headlines/sub-headings.
Also at the bottom of your page you can create a section with the correct spelling and notate that it "commonly spelled as...". Point out that these are easy to understand why people would interpret the spelling those ways -- however the actual spelling is (insert correct spelling). By doing it in this tone it should not come across as insulting and will softly educate your visitor. Also you could point out that you mixed in those "technically misspelled" versions to accomodate those common sub-spellings.
This used to work very well for some terms but the search engines now seem to show the correct spelling and sites listed for it now. Yahoo did it first now google seems to do it.
