It might help us out a bit if we knew what it is that you've tried, and how long you've been at it.

Have you tried particular software programs? Possibly pre-built sites by merchants? Adwords? other PPC's, building and writing your own content sites?

Did you start 1 month ago or 1 year ago. All of these points are important to give proper feedback. If you only started 2 months ago then you probably haven't given any one idea/oppurtunity enough time to work.

I think the consensus would be the same across the forum for those of us that have found some level of success in this business we have all started from the ground up learning SEO, writing content, building links, building lists etc.

This gives you a solid foundation to build on, and explore other oppurtunities.

I'd find it hard to believe that if you've attend a lot of seminars, that NONE of the tactics you've been shown are working. I mean, these featured guests wouldn't be making any money speaking if the tactics they were covering weren't working.

There are a LOT of people making good money with affiliate programs.

I agree with what you've said..Of course the people speaking at seminars are making it "happen". How ever think back to before you got into SEM, before you had hands on experience (I know you have somewhat of a tech background so this industry wasn't starting from the bottom up..) we all had a tough time waiting for the FIrst Adsense click or first affiliate conversion.

When I first started I had the syndrome of jumping from Idea to Idea and from Concept to Concept. Of course nothing worked because I expected immediate success.. .and of course we both know that isn't reality. Once you have your feet wet, and a few dollars rolling in surely you can get projects from launch to making bucks much quicker... But for newbies often they have HUGE misconceptions of how and why things work.

IMHO I think some of this is created by these Keynote speakers that pitch the concepts that work for them...or the ebooks praising this and that and how quickly it generates money.

Just a point I guess that bugs me about the IM industry. Very Happy

Cheers,

Ian

Kingonaolapo1,
First of all you have a nice looking website, but remove the intro. Yes, its looks good but I believe when you talking about affiliate marketing the faster you get the product in front of the consumer the higher your click through rates will be. Now, the first thing I also see if that you are explaining to much about your self on the introduction. Once again you have to get the product in front of the visitor as fast a possible. As soon as a person hits your site you only have a second or two to convince the person to stay and buy or leave. If they spend to much time reading they will leave. Save a lot of that information for your about me page. One last thing. Work on your linking. I ran your site on yahoo (link:http://www.crewlanetechnologies.net/index2.html) and you only have 1 inbound link. That will not help you in the search engines. Begin writing articles and asking for links from sites that are in the same industry. Keep focused on this task and you will increase your ranking numbers in the major search engines. Also, if your just starting you may consider trying the PPC engines. A very reasonable PPC engine that I use often is searchfeed.com. I hope this helps. If you need anymore help visit my Market Associate Times website.

Ya, I totally agree. When newbies read books like "How I made $10,000 in 30 days with 4 hours of work" ...the salesletter usually forgets to mention that he/she has a nice list to work with from the get-go, and has a nice list of friends who wouldn't mind doing a JV. Wink

They sell the dream, they do. And sometimes neglact to mention the reality or REAL truth behind such success.

As for jumping from idea to idea. I didn't so much, as SEO a few years back was just like instant gratification. Grab a few links with good keyword anchor text and you had top rankings. It was a little too easy back then. But I can see how newbies want to jump from idea to idea when they're reading ebook titles as the one I mentioned above.

I always say the best advice is build "pleasing to the eye" sites, with good content and a way to continually build pages of content. Grab some links and start the process over again.

I really like building a portfolio of sites that bring you money. From SEO/affiliate type sites, to Internet Marketing/Product/Service sites, to Dropship sites and so on. Continue to build and the money will follow.

Well, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. (Just try the mirror, if you think you're still young enough.)

Seriously, back with websites, many people's definition of pleasing to the eye doesn't need graphics, let alone anything worse.

Crisp, text-based sites, with subtle colo(u)r do indeed cut the mustard in many cases. I was reasured to see Markus Frind even say as much. (Though with his server loads, wouldn't you.)

The point with "pretty" is to remember what it's purpose is... Assuming you're trying to lead visitors somewhere mutually beneficial, site design is just a way of packaging the content (usually the message in words) in a way that puts off as few people as possible.

Looked at this way, site design stays in it's rightful place in the priorities list.

Just a thought,
Charlie.

Perhaps you're aiming too high to start with.

I suggest you begin with a small, relatively easy project, get all the details right, generate some revenue, and then move on to bigger projects.

When you're selling things on the Internet you want people to trust you. To do so, you need to present a reasonably professional image. You have to get the little details correct - or a reasonable percentage of them, anyway.

Your website is in desperate need of proof-reading.

Here's an example:

Quote:

Check out this great deals,so much deals for so little prices, you won't be dissapointed.

Sorry to be blunt, but that sentence is very badly written. It has typing mistakes, grammatical mistakes and a spelling error. Also, there should be a space after each comma.

If you have difficulty writing in English, you'll need to get a friend to help you or hire someone to do proof-reading for you.

I agree with Ken,
There's nothing better than article marketing for free traffic. You can target your keywords for immediate traffic and get longer term backlinks as well.

Seems to be the more relevant the backlinks the higher the search engine listing.

Now that the actual content portion have been well adressed, it is also important to take into consideration the advertising side of your site.

Employing the right tactic to reach your target market would greatly help in making the conversions that you need.

I can feel this writer's pain. I have been there done that.

I consider myself a fairly intelligent person who for years
tried everything to get some affiliate sales. I began to
feel the affiliate business was just bull.

I did some SEO research and discovered a niche that had a
lot of traffic. I went to Click Bank and found some
products.

Then I started to sell an eBook in my niche. However the
companies weren't reputable and Click Bank got rid of them.

I tried to do a direct partnership deal but got ripped off
for my commissions. Later I began to do well with Adsense
and partnered with people with good products and created
affiliate programs. Some of these people never considered
their own affiliate programs before.

Eventually I created my own products. But it all starts
with finding a niche people are passionate about. You can
tell this type of niche by search traffic and the number of
ads carried on Adwords.

you should really take it easy if your jumping from idea to idea and attenting that many seminars.

Sadly no such thing as get rich quick.

Concentrate on building your brand of one and it will snowball in time

Success will only come after you get your head right my friend. If you have any doubt, or limiting beliefs, you will continue to struggle.

I've been there, but only when I made a shift from poverty consciousness which is where I was at, to prosperity consciousness did the money flow. It doesn't matter how many opportunities you go through if you don't have your head on straight you won't go anywhere.

The good news is help is everywhere. Google personal development. That is where you start.

To your success,
