I have been using Text-Link-Ads for a while now as an affiliate. I just installed their script on my blog and now my site is in their marketplace.
My question is, is how long does it usually take for the ad spots to be sold?

It depends entirely on your site and your niche. Some can sell the first day, others never sell anything

I agree with the second poster. The amount of time it will take depends on the advertisers in TLA's, plus also the quality of your site. If your site doesn't look attractive to any advertiser then the chances are that you will never get a link sold, but if it does look attractive, you are likely to get a few links sold and if it looks very attractive to the advertiser then you may have a sellout.

I know from experience,

that blogs related to mobile phones, health and travel work very well if they have the correct pagerank and alexa rank.
