Hi guys!
I have a site to promote, tried various means already and now i am thinking about blogging, there are opinions that blogging can be a good contribution to web promotion. But i don't see why!!!!
I have started the blog, so now i also have to attract visitors to my blog... it requires efforts like web promotion. I post comments in subject relative communities and blogs, and no much result.
How do you work with blogs???? |

Well your blog can be an effective contribution to site promotion if you have a link back to your site from your blog. Of course your blog must generate enough interest for it to make a good contribution to your site promotion.

If your blog is about a topic you enjoy then just start writing. Do it everday. Learn how to structure a blog post around a keyword and as your blog becomes more popular, and you build up content, you will see the search engines coming around and spidering it more often.
Over time you will find your pages showing up on the search engines which brings more traffic. Combine that with social marketing to relevant directories like Digg and Reddit and you will soon be making money and having fun with your blog.

When you write blog post using SEO tricks, we can say that a blog is like a website.
A post can reach the top position at Google, like Jeff D. Schuman did,and it brings a lot of targeted traffic to the link in the end or where-ever in the copy.
You also can build up backlinks from related blogs, which will bring even more traffic. As to the income, you can even place AdSense ads on your blog.
One feature that fascinates me a lot is easiness: blogs are very easy and quick to use.

What's the use of blogging?
Many uses. Let me explain.
Blogging can be your core information center, which defines you and what you do. If you have an online business, you can link it to your blogs. You can also link all of your other websites to your blogs.
The great thing about blogging is that you can share your ideas and information. When people get to know you trust is formed. Trust is important when building a business, as people do not want to get scammed.
One of the things I like about blogging is the fact that it is so easy to set up and configure. It is not like a website that requires programming or time consuming editing. It is too time consuming. With blogspot I can choose a template that is very visually appealing. This attracts many people! When I used to build my own websites, I could not make them as attractive as the templates that are available at blogspot.

I have read that Google or other spiders will come to your site more often if they find new content each time. So if it comes one day, finds new content it will come a couple days later, if there is no new content it will come a week later, if there is no new content then it will come two weeks later. The more new content you have the more often the spider will come. It's almost like feeding it, if you feed new content it will return.
That is why it is important to have fresh material on your site and why blogs are such good traffic generators for your site.

I use blogs for everything from targeting specific keywords to upsell via rss to hand written posts to target specific traffic.
Blogs when IMO used correctly can be very usefull, i have a splog network powered via rss that i use for page rank and upselling untargeted traffic. this network does well for things like adsense, but more importantly i can distribute page rank to more important sites i use to upsell.
for my handwritten blogs i make sure to use places like pingoat.com to ping the engines and directories.

Hi clyopa
I think if I read you right, you have a web site that you have been promoting with little results to show.
And a few advice here and there you decided to start a blog and now you are back to square one -- you have to promote your blog on top of your web site.
It kind of defeats the whole purpose right? I can just feel the frustration.
I wish you had a link pointing to your blog or web site so that I could appropriately comment and give a suggestion here or there.
Stick with content.
Keep on writing great content. Useful content that genuinely helps your target niche.
Write good content...nobody is going to notice you for now.
Write more useful content...the search engines will index you but send little or no traffic.
Keep writing helpful and practical content that solves, answers, educates people...soon your blog and web site ranking and traffic will explode.
It all takes time.

A blog is a great way to increase traffic to your site. Just make sure to read what ever you can about SEO for a blog and submit it to rss feeds and directories.
