I'm sure they'd be popular in some circles, but the trouble is it takes time to do them properly. I used to try and do them when requested, but these days I just ignore them, unless there is a specific question (rather than a request for a general review).

I think it all depends whether you'd like to see this a discussion forum, or a question and answer board, if you see what I mean. (I sometimes think it's moving too far towards the latter, for my taste.)

Besides, the forum is also supposed to be about Affiliate Programs (and closely related issues). Things often stray into areas such as site design and programming as it is.

Everything considered, I'm not in favour of a site review section. It's too much a matter of opinion. Secondly, how would you separate genuine requests for help from attempts at blatant promotion? It's difficult enough as it is.

All the best,
Charlie.

I do have to agree with Charlie. I thought about it also months back and asked several of the top posters here what they thought also ... with Charlie being one of them Wink

He raises some valid points, not least of which is the blatant promotion. I have no problem with helping someone who isn't getting traffic or conversions who has spent the time trying, or someone who may need a little guidance or reinforcement as they start out, as I am sure most everyone here feels the same.

However, a forum section devoted to that would potentially bring in a lot "quick requests" which may not be from regular visitors and it could become a nightmare of work to maintain.

True. It makes good sense to keep a tight focus so that people know what to expect when they arrive here. However, site design, copywriting and pre-selling are all very closely linked to success in affiliate marketing.

True. I've seen requests for site reviews from people who haven't even bothered to run a spell checker over their articles before asking for a review. If I look at site like that, I think: "Should I spend 20 minutes of my valuable time trying to help this lazy person?"

A good place to ask for site reviews is HelpDesk/WebReview email discussion list. Thousands of experts read it and some will be keen to give you advice. (It's also a way to get your URL in front of the public Wink It's free to subscribe: http://www.taxmama.com/helpdesk.html

By the way, if you're writing articles for a web page, it's useful to create them in a plain text editor like TextPad and run a spell checker over them before pasting the articles into the page. If you don't have TextPad you can write the articles in Notepad and then cut and paste them into your email software (I use Eudora) and send the article to yourself, using the email software's spell checker.
