Hi.
In your opinion, what's the best way to make a
serious income on the internet not a few quick
bucks!
Why do you think this is the only way to go?
I find there are still so many people out there that
believe in these get rich quick schemes and this is
kind of confusing for affiliate newbies!
In your opinion what is the first step affiliate marketers
need to take with this?
I'm looking forward to your answer.

Wait, why not take the "FREE! Income For Beginners" way? 
I think there is no best way. There are many different ways they all work. One has to find something that fits to one.
The first step should be to educate about the different ways to start out, and then choose a way and stick with it.
One of the ways with the greatest potential is finding a bunch of people with problems and offer them a solution.
Give real good value and then, if you market it the right way, the money will come to you. (So you have to learn how to market effectively)

Okay.
1) Understand that the world wide web is a medium. Like: radio, television, newspapers, magazines.
2) Acknowledge that publications (be they TV programmes or magazines or whatever) are profitable when they can offer advertisers a large, topic-focused audience. This pretty much means that all profitable web presences (which rely on an advertising-based business model) have two main attributes:
i) They are topic-focused.
ii) They have a large audience.
3) Therefore your publication too (ie. your website) must be able to deliver to advertisers a large, topic-focused audience if it is to generate "a serious income".
Create a popular, topic-focused website and you'll be ahead of 99% affiliates who keep chasing the flavour-of-the-week. |

Excellent advice, couldn't agree more.
Spend time getting your fundamentals right and then build up from solid fundamentals. Don't hastily put together one castle in the sand and then rush to build another one, only to see when you have finished it that the waves have pulled apart the first one. |

Ok, that's the strategy of building ONE business from the start, that's very good.
But there's also the other possibility which is also very good, to build a little income stream, leave it running automatted, and with the money fund the next bigger project.
A lot of people find ONE method to set up an income stream in one niche, that works for them.
Then they take that method and repeat it in another niche, and in another...
And then with the money and skills they can do even bigger things.

Of course making money with affiliate marketing is what this forum is about. Here are my own 4 keys..
1. Start with an area you have an expertise in or passion for.
2. Narrow that down to a niche where people are spending money in.
3. Choose a few good paying affiliate programs and join them.
4. Start a website, blog, or both, and master the internet marketing skills you will need to make money online.
And of course keep coming back to this forum and posting for all of us to hear about your success.

My sentiments exactly. I have only been at affiliate marketing now for about 6 months. I started making good money within 2 months.
The hardest part was 'getting it' - that is, getting the idea of affiliate marketing, learning the fundamentals and core principles.
Once that was achieved it was a simple process of implementing and repeating.

Good money within 2 months !! Congrats. How much do you attribute your success to the fact that 2 out of 3 of your sites sell ACTUAL PRODUCTS rather than more "affiliate"-related info ? So, are you an affiliate for E-Bay only and get a percentage of the sale? HOW do you keep track of cataloguing all the stuff on E-Bay into YOUR site ? Do you affiliate with anyone else other than E- Bay/ Thanks |

Sell your own products.Thats the way to go and then recruit hundreds or thousands of affiliate to promote it for you.
For continouous profit , make a back end sales like a membership site which a member paid monthly.

If you can find products that aren't that competitive you'll make a bundle. However, if you can find them so can anyone else. As for my stores, it's simply populated by ebay...
My suggestion if you want to make great money online is this:
Figure out the solution to a problem people are searching for and not easily answered - offer them value beyond the cost of the product X10... Publish that and get affiliates to market it for you.. Repeat as many times as you can...

Good money within 2 months.... good work! Any chance you can give us a ballpark figure on what you consider "good money"? $10, $50, $100 per day?
I've been thinking of joining wealthy affiliate....always nice to hear actual results from newbies. |

The best way is the basic way. Choose a niche. Research something that has income potential and that you are interested in. Become an expert in this niche. Build a website and develop a mailing list. Drive traffic to your site using article marketing, adwords, and/or SEO.
Not the fastest way, if you do this every day it will be hard to not make any money.
So, the first step is to find a niche--choose a niche even before you choose your products.
