Any tips on getting my sites listed in DMOZ? I've been waiting months for one, weeks for two more. No results yet.

Become an editor  that's the only way to help your site get listed, outside of being sure it meets the DMOZ guidelines.
Sometimes it takes months, sometimes longer, just move onto other places to get listed, and check back monthly at DMOZ.
Also, search the forum for DMOZ and you will find a lot of tips to check on your listing too.

Hi,
The minute I gave up DMOZ and started to use other techniques the traffic started to pour in.
DMOZ is a disgrace to the whoever support it (and you know who...) Sometimes I think it is maintained in this poor way for a reason...
Luckily there are other ways to get MASSIVE targeted traffic and FAST.

OK Debs...
To be practical ? how I get a LOT of traffic from Google?
The first thing I did is to get links from other websites that have a good PR. I sell software so I registered it on sites like SharewareJunction, HotScripts, etc, but if you sell other stuff, like eBooks, services or whatever, there are sites that would be happy to promote your product. The important thing is to get a link from them! After only 2 weeks my sites PR jumped.
The second thing I did is to leverage this PR. I use a controversial BUT WORKING method ? smart pages. 30% of my smart pages are located at top 10 positions in Google. Prospects that come to my website via smart pages are highly targeted and their conversion rate is higher than from other methods. This is pretty equal to PPC.

Thanks for the info, the backlinks (and related PR jump) is what is so very important to increased traffic, because Google, and now other SE's are putting so much emphasis on backlinks.
SmartPages, like other ranking methods, are controversial and could be tagged for deletion by SE's at anytime. One reason I don't use them, the other is they add no value to my site for my visitors. That's me, I am conservative and admit it 
There are a lot of methods to increase traffic. I especially liked how you listed your software with related directories and this is definitely something most sellers can do. You can also write press releases, free content articles, and do interviews online. You can be interviewed, or interview others, to bring traffic, as well as create a viral marketing giveaway for your visitors.
