hi
one of the main problems that i have faced is to make a good/nice blog to promote all programs that i have ,i got hold of this book-easy blogging-which explains how to use wordpress and make a blog on web2.0.But the first step itself was to setup wordpress and in that i had to configure a file and put my database information over there.i have no idea how that is done.
then also if i use blogger.com-then i am not sure how to make it good and how to basically add more pages to the same blog

There are many sites online that show you step by step how to install WordPress and still it can be a bit confusing for some.

Depending on your hosting account it may have an automated Fantastico installer for WordPress and other scripts. Look around in your control panel for it.

If not you first need to setup a MySQL Database on your hosting account. Then place the database info in the wp-config-sample.php file and then change the name of that file to wp-config.php. Upload all the files to your hosting account and run the installer.

A basic install of WordPress isn't all that hard once you figure it out. What takes time is learning what plugins to use, configuring the blog and using it the best way.

Hello.

I've just written some great tips in the second area of this category. One of the links is:

I like Blogger because they've upgraded the whole thing to, what they call, "Blogger Beta." It's a great migration because they have click and drag widgets. With this feature you can pick what you want to go on your Blog without the hassle of knowing the HTML codes to write and where. That doesn't make sense? Yeah that's because HTML is confusing. That is why I'm a fan of Blogger for its simple, easy to use features.

As a beginner I recommend starting out with Blogger. Use their "Help" link at the top, right of the page no matter where you are on the Blogger site.

Even the wordpress has a detailed notes on it. You can refer that. Orelse, contact your webhosting support staff, they could help you if you need.

I remember last time where I don't know what BLOG is all about. I don't even know how to create one. I can only give you a suggestion based on my experience on creating my first blog online.

1) Blogger.com

I learn how to actually create blog using blogger.com after purchasing Rob Benwell's Blogging To The Bank. Now, he already created Blogging To The Bank 2. Without his ebook, I will never know how to create a blog at blogger.

2) Wordpress

Wordpress is so much technical than Blogger. I first joined Blogging Classroom conducted by Anik Singal and Rosalind Gardner (their charge is way too expensive). But then, I found out an ebook called Wordpress Adsense System written by a Malaysian guy named Gobala Krishnan. To my surprise, the teaching in the book is very similar to Blogging Classroom and of course the price is cheaper, way cheaper than Blogging Classroom. In fact, the content of the book is easy to read even for beginners. In no time, I've created several wordpress blogs after reading the book. I wish I found the book sooner.

Hope this will clear up some pointers to all of you newbies out there. Smile

If your going to host the blog yourself make sure hosting company has the script installer. Alot of hosting sites offer it free with hosting. Make life easier and anyone can use it.

Well the quickest way, ask your hostor to install it for you. the second quickest way if you are using a cpanel, install it using fantastico.
