It took me "no time" to submit an article to http://www.goarticles.com. Inside it I have the link directly to my homepage. I can see it's great for them, and it's certainly great for me. I will post more articles, in a steady stream (weekly?). Each time the article has that nice little link to my homepage. And I certainly feel good about it: I give them (secondary) content, and they link to me.
I also submitted an article to http://www.articlecity.com, but it takes longer timer over there to be published: 15-30 days, if I got them right.
The most imporant thing the last 20 hours was that I was published (with the complete free eBook at
http://Database.ITtoolbox.com/documents/document.asp?I=2883
(Don't bother to look if you're not a SW design freak )
This is major: 500.000 visitors/month...
I really love sharing...
This must be working in favour of us authors; I can't see it otherwise. _________________ DatabaseDesigner

Charlie, that premise would be interesting, and likely very entertaining. The reader wouldn't know they had self-analyzed until the book was read?
Consider doing it as an ebook? Then you could tell those publishers KMA

No, I meant me writing the book as a means of self analysis. I'm not quite sure we have the same thing in mind here, or how poplular it would prove.
[Interestingly, only the other day I was agreeing with someone how much better communicators women are than men.]

Possibly, when I retire. And put in a discussion forum where I would lurk and enjoy everyone else discussing their misinterpretation of my writing.
Cheers,
Charlie.

Spelling out KMA isn't an option, however try this word game:
Kiss MY **guess the last word**

Great, I love word games...
Donkey?
Are you an animal lover, too?

I think everyone has a yearning to write at some point in their lives. And then something gets in the way, or someone says 'don't do it', and they talk themselves out of it. I see lots of people like this every day
And agents only care for what they can sell. They don't give a rat's bottom about the content - only about how much money the publisher can make out of it - thus making them plenty in the same stroke.
| Quote: | | I bet they're not the easiest types to "sell" on the benefits of such tools. Might need to get a little unconventional to do well. |
Actually, writers are a weird bunch. They ALL believe they need the biggest, best computer, lots of pens and every book about "how to write" ever written. Then they sit and stare at a blank screen, wondering what to write.
The truth is - a pen and paper work wonders. Tools aren't needed at all. It's the only job where you really can work anywhere with almost nothing but a pen and paper. But most writers will believe that they need ALL the "necessary tools" before they can begin.
So I'll word it that way

Lea,
I believe you. I just visioned the new super horror writer to come: The biggest horror must be to get all the fancy computers and gear working. A great market: Writers with computer problems. I found a new niche:D
But to the point: I believe I will succed because I believe in what I am writing; and I have seen enough on several csoftware discussion forums to know that there is a large demand for what I am writing about. I have had it confirmed the last few days by the acceptance I have had in submitting article pieces to other sites. (which is the topic of this thread). I am actually very pleasantly surprised by the goodwill I have been received with on different sites: I thought it would be a beggar's walk, but on the contrary. Isn't that a good signal to all of us who want to share our knowledge, and at the same time spreading content and receiving links? _________________ DatabaseDesigner

I think people are, generally. I have never been able to get enough of the blighters to do what I want...
Or agree with me.

It's very similar with affiliates and all sorts of other groups, too. I put it down to a comination of need-to-have-it-all society and the fruitless search for "the easy way".
It's a good job we know different.
Cheers,
Charlie.
