How big of a problem is affiliate-link theft? I have worked from morning til night for a year on my website and have made $200. And another $150 that I may never be paid, because the way things are going it will take me literally forever to make the minimums required for payment.

Instead of worrying about commission theft, especially when you're talking about a non-Internet marketing topic, I recommend you ask for a site review in the Site Review section and do some serious research on preselling. You're more likely to find useful answers there.

I imagine most of your visitors won't even know what affiliate programs are.

Right. What you think about, is not the problem.

That you can be successful is not impossible, but only if you realize, that you are doing something wrong. If you keep doing what doesn't work, you will get the same bad results over and over.

Now how you can find out, what does work?
There are some good possibilities.

Find websites that you KNOW they are making good money, and kind of copy how they do it.

Learn what you are missing. If you find, that you have many visitors, but a very low conversion rate, go and search for information about how to raise your conversion rate.

For example if you build an email list, then you have the chance to contact your visitors more times after they visited your website. It's a fact that people buy mostly only after several contacts!

In the end, you only need to concentrate on 2 things:

1. Traffic
2. Conversion

If you take regular action steps to improve both little by little, you will succeed.

If you need more help, just contact me.

I don't think affiliate link theft is a major problem, especially if you are not marketing in the IM field. You made $200 in a year, which is better than some. Improve your traffic and your preselling and I think you'll make much more than that.
