Pros:

I find with Adsense I can put them on a site and then move on without any further need to constantly change code. For example in the 2 months I have been back in the affiliate game I have seen a number of discontinued merchants on CJ where I need to go in and change code.

If you "channel data" your sites, you can see when the traffic starts and the hits start coming in. Of course there are other ways to accomplish this, but when you start getting over about 20 or so sites this is much easier and less time consuming to have in one place, Like your google adsense stats. It also doesn't hurt to get money while seeing these hits.

Now the cons:

I am not convinced that adsense is all that profitable, at least not lately. For example I have two sites that contain essentially the same niche with the same keywords that pull almost the same number of hits. One of those sites gets a few more hits but generates less than half the adsense revenue of the other site.

The other day I saw a hit on one of my sites for about a dime. Later that day the hit magically dissapeared. It was replaced by other hits on my other sites, the daily income went up but that click vanished.

It all brings me back to something I learned in the 90's. You can make $5.00 a day on one program or $100.00 a day on another.

I first added addsense to a site I had a year and a half ago, one that still made a thousand a month even though I cahanged nothing on it in years. After a month I made 100.00 on adsense and 1000.00 on the other program. I sold the site and never got the adsense pin so I didn't even get paid on that.

I think adsense is great for telling you when a site is ready to be eco-tweaked. Or if you are building a thousand sites and do not want to be bothered with updates. But I wonder if one can expect a good living from adsense alone?

Now I am not trying to beat up on adsense here, I just am curious. I have gone up 10x in indexed pages over the last month, but my income has not kept pace.

is anyone here making mortgage payments with your google checks? please let me know.

Thanks Len

Adsense is not dead, but it does not convert as well as it used to and it doens not pay as well per click either. To make the same amount of money as a year ago you need a lot more web pages with Adsense on them/

Adsense is like any other opportunity. You have to know how to most effectively utilize what they offer.

Conversions are dependant upon your ability to use it. Has nothing to do with this year or last or anything else.

People love to complain about it. But Adsense is better than ever.

I sure wish they would let us see which ads convert best. This would help us make our site changes in accordance to those ads.
