Post subject: Inbound links
|
|
|
Hello, I'm always excited about dropping by this forum and read about the ideas you guys have, sometimes for hours. Anyway I already have a handful of affiliate sites on line and things are turning out great! However I'm just about to initiate an inbound linking campaign for two of my most recent websites and I would really appreciate any feedback on my ideas for getting this done.
When I laid out the plan I saw I had the following options:
1. Reciprocal linking
2. One way inbound links methods: articles distribution, directory submitting, paying for links, asking for links.
So my questions are:
What do you guys do to find good quality inbound links for other websites?
Do you think that it's still worth looking for reciprocal links? I've heard that reciprocal linking is "dead" and that it could cause trouble with Google, is this true?
And most importantly: Can I build a good enough inbound linking structure for high rankings with just article distribution and directory submitting?
My problem is that I don't know if reciprocal linking is still worth the hassle and I would otherwise prefer to spend time building links with article distribution....
Thanks for all the help!

Thanks Wealthstream !!,
yes I can hire people to write the articles for me (elance). I find it quite unsettling that reciprocal linking is on the decline since one of my more profitable sites is heavily backlinked using that method. For some strange reason the main index page got knocked out of google, but the other 145 pages are still in the index, I don't know if this was possibly because of reciprocal linking abuse?? I didn't intend it to be so if that's the case.
However in Yahoo and MSN it's doing quite alright!
I'm thinking about doing an experiment where I'll use article distribution as the only backlinking strategy for one of my 2 new sites. That's pure one way backlinking! I have no idea if this will work out I guess it's just a matter of testing and seeing the results. Has anyone does this with success?
However for my other new site I think I'll be using backlinks, but taking into account your good advice of maintaining it within a topic related to my site. Any other good suggestions out there?

Reciprocal linking isn't dead. Just don't make it your only marketing strategy.
Can you think of someone who would actually KNOW what works, and not have to guess?
Consider this. Ken Evoy of SiteSell is in a position that's probably unique on the Internet. He can track in detail the traffic and links of more than 10,000 SBI sites.
He's fanatical about analyzing the little details. He loves testing and tweaking and analyzing data and figuring out why some sites rank higher than others. He can watch sites rise and fall in the rankings and calculate a whole lot of stuff that the rest of us can only guess at.
And what's he doing? He's still recommending that SBI users and anyone else trade reciprocal links with high-quality sites in their industry, because he knows it works.
And one-way links are even better, a nice way to boost your PageRank to impress reciprocal linking partners. Here's a list of ways you get one-way links:

Hey Allan,
Yes I agree, it's impossible to argue with the results of an affiliate mastermind like Ken Evoy. Considering this enlightening view of things I shall continue to reciprocate with high quality sites. However for experimental purposes I'm going to use only one-way backlinks for one of my sites and in a few months I'll be happy to tell you my results, although obviously they wont be nearly as significant as Evoy's info from thousands of sites...
Thanks,

I look forward to reading the results of your experiment. If you get a good number of useful one-way links to your site, the search engines should treat you very well, I imagine. _________________ Allan Gardyne

When in doubt, watch what the high ranking sites in YOUR industry are doing. Is reciprocal linking working for them(yes)? If so, it will work for you. |
