Post subject: Do you love Linux, Google and Apple

I read this topic in the webproworld forum. Author Chris Richardson tried a different experiment with google search. Just typed " I hate google " in search. Checked the count. Then typed I love google and checked count. He calculated the love/Hate ratio.
He checked it for following brands.
Linux, Google, Microsoft, Apple, McDonalds, Yahoo, Target, Walmart, Dell,
Ikea, Comcast, Starbucks. The results are amazing.
The love/ hate ratio can be linked to brand popularity.
Google, Linux and Apple have very high Love / hate ratio. People love these brands.
Microsoft, Yahoo, Dell have low love/hate ratio.
For additinal details check the link.

Isn't all this really a measure of who "we" love to hate?
The results are predicatable, but I'm not sure what I can get out of it.
Interesting though.
Just a thought,

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for your comment. I liked the topic as I could realte it to brand popularity. As you rightly said, results are predicatable but it is useful while advertising your brand. Once you understand what your visitor are thinking about you, you can alter your direction. Just my thoughts.
Thanks & regards

Yes, in theory. The trouble is, opposition politics has a tendencency to appear stronger than it really is. If you're a Quo fan, there won't be much to complain about.
Perhaps companies like Microsoft are more than happy to let the Apples handle the "weirdo minority", and ignore the minority outspoken complaints, knowing that the majority just want "regular"... and are more than happy to carry on quietly paying for it.
Just a thought,
