I know the JM manual says that the article pages are there for information only, with a link back to your product pages, but would it hurt your article pages to put merchant ads or banners on them?

I understand about the argument for not putting them on incase you need to change the merchant code for what ever reason.

Shocked From my understanding I think the banner ad or a merchant link would do two things, one it would distract the reader and two you lose the readers trust. What you are trying to have an "unbiased" veiw point on what information they are looking for, and everyone I know including myself hates to be sold. Evil or Very Mad JMHO

Or you could be sending people to merchants on hundreds of pages as opposed to a handful. Google Adsense makes this especially easy. James even uses some smaller banner ads himself.

His 2005 update of his manual covers generating revenue from article pages.

Does the new 2005 manual have many new updates? Worth printing up and reading?

I think for now I'm going to leave the article pages clean of merchant links, and just have adsense on them, with the links to product pages in the page footer.

The new manual has quite a few updates. I think James has incorporated all the updates from the update page on his website into the new 2005 manual. If you haven't already printed out the original manual, I suggest you print the updated one out, cause if you are anything like my I get a wicked headache from reading the manual on my computer screen

Thanks christof - I have printed the original as well as read all the updates - so I guess I'm cool then.

Oh, and I'm keeping ads off my article pages as well. The adsense is good enough for those, IMO, and also I'm just sticking to the Martell structure for all his reasons, too.

Hey, I like the blog Christof - it's nice to see the thoughts of someone else who's starting out with Martell sites.

Thanks buddy. I'm even more excited now because I've just uploaded my first lot of article pages, so my page now has bigger footprint on the net.

I hope you don't mind, but I loved your affiliate blog idea so much, I started one too. I've always got a lot to say on this and I think that's better than boring my friends with the details.

Thanks buddy. I've had a couple of nice positive replies on my blog, it's good to know there is other people thinking about what your thinking about.

As for my site, like people have informed me, I need to focus on getting some good links going.

I found that when you have a blog you get indexed much faster in the search engines. I dont put all my websites in my blog at all though. I dont take any chances of them being linked together in any way. I have a complimentary blog for each site along with rss links to it in case anyone wants to read them using a rss reader.

When I make a new article page I will write a one paragraph sort of press release with a link to the new article page. It gets me in the search engines very quick as they are always searching for new pages and I am feeding them.

I dont waste too much time doing my blogs as that would take away from my articles time. This is just a little thing that has been working for me I am surprised I havent heard it on the Buzz yet!

Keep it up guys freedom is right around the corner

Wow, great idea with the blogs and articles! Yeah, I was a little worried about linking to all, I think I'll take the links out now...

I won't spend too much time on it - I just need to vent and analyze somewhere sometimes.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi,

To the bloggers - are your blogs relevant to your sites? Or do you have a general "rant" kind of blog? Would it work with a general blog do you think?

I never thought of that either. Sounds simple. I might try it the next time I upload some articles to my site, and see if it works.
