Post subject: Affiliate Programs/Networks that pay

Hi all,

Thought I'd shed some light on the paying networks that I've had the pleasure doing business with the past few years. In the spirit of objectivity, I'll try to list some of the unfavorable aspects of each network, as well as the favorable.

The main thing is, and MOST important to anyone new in the affiliate marketing world, is they pay, and they pay on time. And they combine commissions from all advertisers, lumping them into one check, making it much easier to meet any minimums they may have on payment.

I hope this helps:

#1 - Commission Junction - I list them #1 for one reason, net 20 or so payment terms. That means for everything you make in July, this month, you'll be paid around August 20th, and they'll zap the money right into your bank account. Also, they have almost live stats so you can tweak your sites ad copy on a daily basis if your sales aren't there, or are lacking. No more waiting 3-4 months to see if your site is effective. With CJ, you'll know in 3-4 days.

In my experience, well, I've had many "experiences" with them. I'd say the big problem with CJ.com is they have begun to realize they are the biggest. In other words it shows in their attitudes. Also, their tracking is questionable, but in most cases it's the advertiser's fault. But every time they do an ?upgrade?, my stats, which normally run at about $200 a day, always fall to 20-30% of that mark. Then they slap you in the face with a ?Tracking was not affected? comment. Yeah, sure thing.

You need to stay on top of this network. They ARE affiliated with some "scumware" operations. I'll leave it at that. The customer service is good if you pick up the phone and call. NEVER use their e-mail option for customer service.

Again, net 20 payment terms. The quicker we receive our money the quicker we can re-invest in other advertising ventures, making us even more money. Quickness of payment is my #1 priority, thus the only reason they are #1 in my book.

#2 Websponsors - They pay on a net 30 basis via Direct Deposit. It's like money in the bank. Some of us where a bit taken back in the reading of the TOS where it stated WS could also withdraw money from your account also. I went forward with it, and they haven't withdrawn any money from my account, only put money in my account. Now, I'm sure if they made a mistake and paid me $100,000 in error, they should have the right to zap it back asap. That's my "take" on the TOS.

They have many highly convertible advertisers over there, and the customer service is excellent. Cozette will actually look at your site and make recommendations as to the advertisers you might convert well. You?ll also receive updates for the best performing offers.

The only bad thing I can think of is the advertiser?s contract is not as iron clad with Websponsors. So advertisers can come and go in a blink of an eye. They are improving that though. I am very happy with this network. And if a few advertisers switched over to them, from CJ, I'd switch also in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even bat an eye.

#3 Valueclick CPA, formally "On Response" - They pay net 30 via check, but the check is here like clockwork every month. Last Christmas they actually paid early, very early, like before Christmas early. Nice gesture in my book. They have offers which convert very well, but their customer service lacks in the sense it's not nearly as quick as the others, but it is effective in most cases.

The thing that really irks me about this network, but doesn't happen too often, is they pull advertisers without letting you know, leaving you holding the bag, sending free traffic.
You must stay on top of the "offers" on a daily basis, if not twice a day, or even three times.

#4 Affiliate Fuel - I list them last only because they pay on a net 35 basis via check, which means, like yesterday, I don't get paid till around net 45. That's the only thing I don't like about this network.

Their offers convert, and if they don't convert, they simply don't stay. I mean the landing page is checked up and down and simply will not make it through if the staff does not feel it will convert highly.

The customer service is absolutely the best and most genuine I've ever seen. Did I mention the responses are lighting fast? If you ever have a problem here, it won't last long, and you'll want to promote more of their advertisers when you're done.

When this outfit gets more advertisers and pays closer to net 25-30 via Direct Deposit, they'll be #1 or #2 overnight.

One thing though, this network is very selective. They have stringent qualifications to be accepted into the network. If you are declined, but feel your site can truly deliver leads or sales to their network, contact them, and they will consider you on a very personal level. They want publishers who can deliver, so don?t submit a ?banner farm?.

I hope this helps. Again, these are networks I use, excluding the in-house deals I have, that pay and pay like clock work every month, and have for a very long time.

Good Luck To All!

I also like Cj, but this year they've fallen in my books, with their upgrades, etc. I personally like it when a good merchant that can convert leaves for a different network. Seems tracking works better at the others Confused

Also I hate not seeing reversals, and not having a reason for the reversal.
I hate not knowing what I'm selling. Although they are seeming to try to fix this know with the sids.

Linkshare has some good merchants, but must watch which one's can convert on your site. I like their reporting system, although it's not in real time, I like it's layout.

Befree has improved tremendously this year in my opinion. Also has a few good converting merchants, just finding them is the fun part.

I also like individual merchants, When you find a good one Watchout, Money is coming your way.

Searching,

You have to admit, todays action to admit to some of the tracking mistakes, go a long way for credibility.

Here's the e-mail I received a few hours ago:

"Dear ***,

You will notice a bonus from Commission Junction in your July earnings. This amount was credited to your account as a result of a reporting issue we discovered following a recent upgrade to our foundation servers. This email is notification of that issue as well as an explanation of how we arrived at the credit amount you will receive.

On June 25 we upgraded a portion of our foundation servers as part of a larger project designed to enhance the network platform's ability to quickly process billions of transactions and provide a more flexible architecture for future developments. We aggressively monitored all network activity throughout and following the migration to the new servers and quickly found that a small percentage of transactions were not being properly reported to the network. Commission Junction pinpointed the problem and implemented a complete fix at the end of the day on July 1. This issue did not affect transactions that advertisers batched to the network and is unrelated to our June 28 product release.

The effect of the foundation migration issue is that 1/2 to 1 percent of June transactions were not properly posted to the network. Tomorrow, July 17 we will credit your account with 2 percent of your total commissions earned in June 2003, less all corrections for June transactions (posted up to July 10), and excluding any performance incentives, bonuses or other non-standard payouts. Your 2 percent credit for account number *** will total $ ***.XX USD and doubles estimated unreported transactions to your account. Your advertiser partners have also been notified of this issue, however, Commission Junction is completely assuming the cost of the publisher credits.

Going forward we will continue to closely manage our servers to ensure accuracy, develop and implement more testing processes, and deliver the exceptional reliability our clients have come to expect over the last four years. This policy enabled us to detect and respond quickly to the issue at hand and will help us exceed your expectations for network quality and integrity as we continue to advance its functionality and performance.

Above all else, we value our clients and your loyalty to the network. We have proactively addressed this situation so that you can continue to rely on us as your trusted third party in the pay-for-performance network. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please log in to the Account Manager, go to the Support tab and use the "Ask a Question" feature, selecting the "Foundation Migration Credit" category. Client services will respond to your question as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

***
***
Commission Junction"

Yup ... I got that too ...

I don't have much to tell. Just started making money in last Jan but my first check, May ... It didn't reach my minimum yet until then. So, no experience with others except for CJ. Thanks for the input SH.

p/s - SH, I think you should register your nick before somebody registers it again.

Kidino,

You keep making sites like the one you showed us recently and the money will come, trust me.

Make all the mini-sites you want, but if I were you, I'd have a goal of a more broad topic site one day. That will be your "powerhouse" site. The one bringing in the bucks.

Again, don't listen to anyone who says your ad copy is not sensational. Change or tweak it not on any other's advice, but only what you find works or doesn't.

Try some penny per click bids in the PPC SE's also, if you haven't already. That's a great way to test your site's impact for minimal buckaroos.

Hurry, if your'e trying to get in at Findwhat, as they are upping the min bid to a nickel come Sept 1st. Get into Ah-Ha, search123, 7-search and goclick. My advice, steer clear from the others, not that the others are bad. In my experience, I've found them to be big time wasters. So I'd hope to save you that time.

Stay away from the sites in which are trying to sell books. Go to http://www.jimworld.com/apps/webmaster.forums/ for some real info. Yes, I'm there. No, I won't tell you my "handle" there Wink You'll quickly indentify me though, as one's words are like fingerprints.

Good Luck.

Yes its a step in the right direction - but for the most part in my books they are falling, and other networks are catching up with them.

The only thing holding their number one spot is real time tracking and pays everymonth regardless of income earned by each merchant.

Performics is awesome. Great converting merchants etc. Poor support though.

I'm past the point of a newbie affilaite, and can usually make minimum on other networks merchants. So CJ's good points don't hold a candle anymore.

this year I've expanded my wings far and wide, and have found some pretty good alternatives to CJ.

And another thing I've noticed is if a merchant is on Cj and Performics. Switch to Performics. You can see what you sold, and seems to convert better. No reason why, but thats how it seems.

Thanks ... taking it one by one now. Have a project on the go but not live yet. Still underdevelopment. And still think that there's more that I can do for my CCC.

I remember that you mentioned somewhere in this forum that you'll help if somebody here needs help with SEO with Google. I maybe needing that later.

I just tried to access this forum but I get an error message saying that there are too many connections. Must be a good one. Guess I'll wait in line:)

Hi Spam,

Good information...there are several programs that pay on time each and every month. I have an affiliate program that combines the Top5 and they pay me every month on time. Keep up the good information!
