OK, now I understand what you're doing. Your Overture JV idea is probably far too clever to be discussed on a public forum.

Well, I hear ya, I do tend to type whatever comes to mind.

Honestly, I almost no longer trust whether I know what is clever or not. That's why I post these questions to the larger group mind. My ideas seem either clueless, or over people's heads, too far ahead of the curve, or way behind, and I myself very often don't know which is what.

I'm limited inside a very linear logic mind here that is often not the best tool for analyzing the world of human affairs.

Allan, you have the biz head, I have a tech head. If you see an opportunity for yourself in any of this, delete this thread entirely and send me a PM. Smile I'm sure you could provide some critical skills to making this happen and I'd be happy to make this our project.

All I want out of this is traffic to Links-For-You so I can get that on auto pilot and move on to something else.

The Keyword Organizer I am referring to here in this thread is NOT an analyzer, nor is it adverised as such. It's a brainstormer only, exactly like Overture's tool.

As I mentioned before, Overture's Suggestion Tool is not designed to be a "brainstormer" in the context you mean, how ever many people use it that way.

You fascinate me, Phil. I know I'm supposed to know more about you than I can remember, and it hurts.

On the one hand, you sound like a confused newbie (which I know is at most only half right), and on the other you sound like a modest but shrewd explorer...

Up the Amazon without a paddle? Or the Professor conducting an anthropological experiment on any primitive people he can find? (I think I'll stick to hunting monkeys with a plowpipe, before the headache gets any worse.)

That's the trouble with asking questions in forums. You don't always get the right people to answer. I've pretty much given up asking questions for just that reason... do you think I should ask more?

Between you and me, some of my favourite people are very analytical. Once they listen to their other half, it gets easier.

Besides, a logical, analytical mind can help with lots of marketing. The trick, as far as I can see, is to try and keep it to yourself long enough to get close enough to the people that matter.

It's a strange thing...

It's almost as if, ideally, you need an analytical planner to set out the strategy and the initial tactics, but then hand over to one of those "warm, but well-meaning", "people" people to handle the relationship building.

Personally, I still have no trouble with the strategy and planning... it's just the people that keep getting in the way.

But one thing's for sure, it is easier to teach people skills to a left-brainer than to try and make a right-brainer think straight, so we're almost there.

Just my opinion,
Charlie.

P.S. Check your mirrors, I think I spot a curve ahead. Wink

I take your point, but honestly I just care mostly how many people use it, rather than what they call it when they do.

That about covers it, well said. It's not one or the other, it's both, at the same time. Some real newbieness, some experience, some diplomacy, blended with a writing style that strives to achieve some authenticity at the expense of maintaining a polished pose. And Prof Blowhard thrown in at no extra charge. What a deal! Smile

Many of us, me included, have a tendency to get trapped by what we've already learned. We build our ego structures around accumulated knowledge, and then tend to resist any new input that sends us back to "newbie land". This can be fatal in a rapid change environment like the Net. I'm swimming upstream against that weakness, as many of us are.

I say this sincerely, sometimes I envy the real newbies, who arrive here with open minds not filled with with so many distracting old experiences and opinions. Learning is crucial to this environment, and they are often in a better mindset for that task.

I find it very helpful, but I can't say for you. Try us sometime, see what happens.

In another thread we were talking about how sometimes we are so far in to a Net project that we can't see it the way a real user would. Sometimes those that know the least can teach us the most.

I used to have a relationship with a people person like that in my first net biz. People who aren't overly burdened with linear logic don't get frustrated when human affairs don't make sense, and that's a real asset.

Me, I'm always yelling at the weather, as if it will bring sunshine. Duh... Smile

Too much logic, or not enough, either can be fatal, a balance is helpful.
