When inserting your merchant links on your product pages etc do you prefer to have them occur in the body of the text, or as a list in order of preference for your top 2 or 3 at the bottom of your product text?

I am using one of the web templates from wade robson design and they have a listing at the bottom of the text for the merchant links, but I originally had planned to have my merchant links occur naturally with in the actual body of the text, and am now unsure.

As a little footnote to my progress on this site, it is my first Martell style project and my first web site period, but I'm pleased to have cleared the most recent hurdle of finding a good, honest, and reliable web host.

I need to finnish off the product pages with the merchant links query that I mentioned above, then maybe sort out some google adsense, not sure about that yet, and upload it to my host, then start building article pages.

Fingers crossed.

It depends on the site in my experience. For Martell style sites - I would just follow what he does, a couple of quality merchants at the bottom of the product pages, and maybe a few lines about why you reccomend them and what benefits they offer.

Regards

The tennis site I'm building right now is not strictly a Martell site, but probably does resemble one in several respects.

That said, I'm placing my merchant links/recommendations at the bottom.

IMO merchant links would probably work just as well if woven into an article--if it could be done without straining the text.

I'll let you know how well my choice works -- once I'm making the big (or little) bucks!

I've decided to go with my chosen 3 at the bottom of the product text, and to link my primary keyword in the first paragraph to my best merchant. Hope it works out.

Also, I would be grateful if anybody can let me know how to mask the merchant http link so it just shows the web domain. At the moment when I click on the link it shows all the cj tracking codes etc.

If you are using CJ links, when you build the link (get the html from CJ) you have the option to hide the tracking code ... check the box and it puts in a little javascript so just the domain shows when someone mouses over the link. I also recommend you encrypt the link as well, another option when you get the html from CJ.

Just take the javascript that CJ creates, and apply it to the links from the non-CJ merchants.
