Hey Debs... thanks!
I went to your site to take a look at the home page... Nice, clean, very usable interface... Clear and effective pre-selling prose... and, obviously, well liked by the engines!
Also, have you looked at the Memberlist and sorted by Total Posts? Tied with Charlie as of tonight, you're by far the most active poster in the list... Very helpful posts too!

Hi Charlie,

It certainly looks so... If we look at the Memberlist (disclosed locations)...
Members with more than 15 posts:
Non USA - 18
USA - 8
Members with more than 30 posts:
Non USA - 10
USA - 6
Members with more than 50 posts:
Non USA - 4
USA - 3
Members with more than 100 posts:
Non USA - 3
USA - 2
Interestingly, UK and the USA are as of tonight, tied at 260 posts
Then, 392 (out of 576) registered members have posted 0 or 1 messages. Is that "lurking index" about normal in comparison with other marketing forums, in your opinion?

Thanks for confirming my suspicions with some hard facts!

I don't know about numbers, but I believe the vast majority of traffic to forums in general is lurkers rather than posters.
Incidentally, I assume people only register here if they are thinking they might post at least some time in the future. How many more lurkers are there on this forum who haven't registered?
More than a few, I dare bet!
Cheers,
Charlie.

I lurked for a month before I registered, which is usually what I do with most forums. I want to see the "flavor" of the forum ... is it helpful, antagonistic, a place to blow off steam, or just everyday chit chat?
Each type has it's own followers, as well as being needed in the overall scheme of things, but I wanted to be sure it was a forum I would be comfortable posting in and learning from.
This one definitely makes the grade
Nelson, thank you for the compliment. As far as total posts, it's all relative. I think Charlie will agree with me when I say, it's more important that the posts are helpful to someone than the quantity, and it's more important to ask questions and get help, than to flounder not knowing how to do something. As Allan says, no question is a dumb question, the only dumb thing is not asking.
I find many nuggets of great information, insights, and thought provoking comments here and love it. I think Charlie takes the prize for "thought provoking" but I also know his posts are very informative and helpful. His posts are always read by me, knowing I will learn something new again today.

I think this forum's appeal for me lies in it's "genuine helpfulness". OK, sometimes egos clash, or aggressive words leak out, but in the main, it's execeptional, in this regard.

I do agree, Debs, "quality not quantity" so to speak, but if you have both all the better!
Incidentally, I answer more than I ask, but I still think I learn at least as much as anyone. It's a lateral thinking sort of thing, for me. Surely the best opinions are dynamic, not set in stone, and I for one certainly change my mind as a thread develops, on a regular basis.

You should be in politics, Debs... you're a natural.

Thanks. I had a feeling you read quite a lot of them, as you usually disagree with me straight afterwards!
I think that's a good thing... I like to compare forums with the letters page in a newspaper...
I don't know what Allan thinks, but many editors love the occasional controversial letter, as it keeps things alive. The trick here, in an essentially uncensored medium, is not to take things too far...
I try my best to get the balance right.

No, Charlie, I just like the Numbers Devil... otherwise called 'hard facts'!
That's a relief. Me too...
Still opinions have their place, too. The important thing is to recognise the difference between the two. When it comes to affiliate programs (or any other form of marketing) there usually is no black and white, just grey. It's all ideas and testing - the opinions help the ideas, the numbers make sense of it all.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

I love the way you put that!

I'm new to the forum, but I strongly agree with you! I tried to read as much as I could before writing my first post, and that was exactly the feeling I got from the mesages seen as a whole...
Great forum! When the SBI Awards, First Edition, are handed out... I'm sure it will get the prize for "Most Helpful Non- Corporate Support Tool"

The above entry (in its context) is already in my quotation anthology.
