I am having difficulty trying to use a transparent gif image on a site.

I imagined it would have just been a matter of inserting the image onto the page with a coloured background, however I am still getting the white canvas for the image?

How are you creating the image itself?

I use Fireworks to create images, and when I export the image as a gif, I have to set the type of file to transparency to get a transparent gif ... are you doing that with your graphics program?

Hiya Debs,

Thanks for your response. Ive managed to work it out. What had happened was I purchased a logo design pack which was meant to include a transparent gif version of the logo. It turned out the transparent gif image was not transparent as I was still getting the white canvas on the web page. I dont know a great deal about graphic design - so I figured I was just inserting the image wrong in Dreamweaver.

I ended up mucking around with Photoshop and managed to make the background color of the logo transparent, so is all cool now! Needless to say, I wont be using that same logo design company again. Guess you get what you pay for, I didnt spend a great deal on it.

By the way Debs, feel free to submit any of your sites to my new directory which I plan to market heavily in 2005. I'm accepting free submissions for a limited time.
