Post subject: Google Page Rank - new sites
|
|
|
Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get pagerank in google for a new site? My site has been up since October 15 2004 and was indexed by google around Oct 20, but still has a page rank of 0. In the month of December googlebot has 194 hits to my site and in November googlebot hit the site 153 times. Is it typical to still have a rank of 0 two months in with these type hits?
Thanks

Your site already has pagerank if it has inbound links, REGARDLESS of what the toolbar says. Google is constantly updating their internal PR, but the belief is now they only update the toolbar PR every quarter.
I believe the last time it happend was early october, so the next may be around january. _________________ Robert

Thank you, this is a bummer becasue many people will not exchange links unless the Google tool bar is showing page rank. O'well, I guess I have to wait.
Thanks again,

| ebg you pretty much launched your site during the same time as the last visual PR update. It shouldn't be too much longer a wait. |

Why not try explaining to them what is going on?
Just a thought,

You might consider focusing on directory listings and article submissions in order to build backlinks until your PR starts to show up too. Those are all non-reciprocal links, which aren't bad things to have, even after you start a reciprocal link campaign. _________________ Affiliate Marketing Programs Blog

Ditto here. I wouldn't bother doing this for EVERY potential link partner, only those that would transfer the most benefit to you. _________________ Robert

The word on the web is sometime and Januarly will be the next update. They've updated IBL's a few times recently, but not PR, which I think October was the last one. You must have just missed it.
Don't get too concerned with PR, It's the IBL's that will get you higher in the serp's. _________________ Gift Shopping ** Share Our Revenue |

Here's a little golden nugget for everyone.
A lot of the time, your Toolbar PR isn't your actual PR. But then...how do you tell?
Well, to get the most accurate account of what your PR is, even if you've missed the last Toolbar PR update is to get your site listed in Dmoz. If it is, then click your way over to the Google Directory and find your listing. What does the PR show? _________________ 2009 Insider Secrets

For fast, as in 1 or 2 days, visits by the Googlebot and Yahoo... start blogging and pinging.
I've been doing that and it is simply amazing how fast the spiders come around.
Before I knew it I was already listing in Google and with Yahoo. _________________ Auto Posts 2 Your Blog | IGenerate More Traffic 4 your site|

Does someone have a good list of Directories and non-reciprocal link sources? _________________ Rakesh

Replying to my own post. How's that for a scintillating monologue?
I was browsing this site and came across Allan's article on backlinks http://www.associateprograms.com/one-way-links.shtml
Answers my question and MORE.
But I'd still like that readymade and specific list _________________ Rakesh
