Here we are in "About This Message Board" (as suggested)...

This is one thing I'd love to see on the forum...
the opportunity to have [b]a unique sig for each separate section

It makes sense, but I suspect such a facility might encourage more forum members who post self-promotional messages or not very well disguised promotions for affiliate products.
I get your point about the reasons for posting, Allan, but how about the parallel with Adsense, as regards targeting?
Imagine if the Adsense targeting algo was reduced to just the overall site theme, without taking into account the specific page. I suspect visitors would rather see targeted ads than untargeted ones (as well as the advertisers).
Back with this forum, I'm not sure how much variable sigs would affect the promotional mix. Let's face it, the guidelines are stretched pretty imaginatively already!
I always quite fancied the idea of "getting a script" that could analyse the theme of the current thread and dynamically insert a sig dependent on what people had been talking about.
This could be weighted in favour of later posts (relecting the direction the thread was going, as opposed to the original post) and would thus be less susceptible to an individual (subconscious of course) post by me that was tempted to promote.
This would be difficult to implement, so I suggested the different sig per forum idea as a compromise...
Would anyone else like to see forum-specific sigs?
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
