Hey everybody,
I've read a couple of "SEO Books", and though I've picked up some good pointers, what I'm looking for is a more conclusive manual of Search Engine Optimization.
Does such a thing exist, or do I just need to learn on my own? _________________ --- |

For the money, you can't beat Sean Burns "Rankings revealed". It has nothing but facts and researched info that Sean has tested and proven to work in gaining high SE rankings...particularly with google.
Furthermore, there is really no fluff, and no sales pitches for other products.
And for the record, I've never heard of anyone (including myself) who didn't find the Ebook very well done and useful.
This may be one of the books you've already read...but for the money...it just can't be beat. _________________ http://www.trdiamonds.com - Manufacturing Fine Jewelry for wholesale and dropshipping |

Planet Ocean also have an excellent book (updated regularly) and monthly newsletter with several comprehensive articles. I've been a subscriber for years and have nothing but praise for them.
The monthly newsletter includes a "what's new" section for each of the major SEs, followed by several high quality articles by professional writers - both in-house and guest. There is often one preselling article at the end of the issue, but you can ignore that if you really want.
They are long established and very highly regarded by all sorts of people.
I've got Sean's book (and rate it highly, too), but I certainly wouldn't want to be without Planet Ocean. They are very comprehensive when it comes to keeping up with the never-ending changes in the SE partnerships, for example.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Yes, I'll cast my vote for Rankings Revealed also. My sense is that book has everything you need, unless your goal is to become an SEO expert. If your goal is to create sites that rank well, read this book a time or two, apply the knowledge, and then get back to writing content. Imho. _________________ Free Forum And Ezine Hosting

Do any of you guys have some example sites that are ranking well thanks to that book's information that I can take a look at?
Thanks! _________________ --- |

Well, If i'm not mistaken, the author of rankings revealed (Sean Burns) has one of his sites, a soccer site, ranked in the top 10 in google for the word "soccer".
I have also spoken with at least 2 SEO companies who have told me that they have learned a great deal of information from this book, and these are the very people who provide SEO to companies who pay for it.
I really can't stress enough how amazing this book is. I have no affiliate link to it, and I don't make a penny off of a sale, but I would venture to say that it is the single best resource for search engine optimization written. It is so essential, I can say the VAST MAJORITY of people are wasting their time trying to achieve high rankings in the SE's, particularly google, if they have not read this book.
I don't have specific site examples, but I have had pages on my own sites drop from the 15th page or 20th page on both yahoo and google all the way to the first page using ONLY the methods that Sean describes in his book.
I also have not ever spoken with a single person who ever found this book to be anything but incredibly insightful.
It also has a money back guarantee, so you can't lose. I'll just say it one more time. If you want to get free search engine traffic (not PPC), then this is the one and only, best book you will find. Period. _________________ http://www.trdiamonds.com - Manufacturing Fine Jewelry for wholesale and dropshipping |

The truth about newsguy is getting around - as he spams various forums with duplicate questions

Mac, the newsguy that posts here has provided intelligent info and responded to posts with questions etc. If it's a bot, it's a good one and Google needs to buy the patent.
Don't flame someone if you don't know the background of their posts on the forum.

I'm with Debs here. They're not posting links in the posts, so it's not like they're spamming for incoming links.
Seriously, if they want to ask various forums the same question for a different perspective, let them. I don't frequent any other forums, so I wouldn't have known.
To be completely honest, don't you have anything else to do than worry about this guy? _________________ Robert

while newsguy may not entirely be a bot, he autoposts to many forums at the same time and then randomly shows up to read the threads on a few. he was called out / busted here

Adding my two cents worth to an older thread, I'd like to say that I feel like I understand Newsguy completely. If I want to learn something, I would be better off researching as many different sources as possible, not just relying on one clique that gets to the point where they are self congratulating and admiring.
I find this forum useful, and visit occasionally, usually without posting or getting involved because I find most of the people here know a lot more about the affiliate/associate program game than I do, and I find, after thinking for a moment, that my comments are usually dated and/or stale.
However, Newsguy was asking questions that were useful to him, and I sort of had the feeling that was the point of the forum. Am I mistaken, is it a club that doesn't want visitors or members to do their own extensive research that benefits them, or is it a clique where each member wants to be sure that their "secret" information isn't getting used by outsiders?
Any gene pool can get some benefit by receiving new material from outside it's pool of resources, even if the outside donor doesn't make any contribution other than to aggravate or excite the members of the pool enough to cause them to look outside. |

To me the problem (as with most cliques) is that it all get's a bit incestuous. If you're not careful, everyone ends up praising the same few products and techniques.
I hate cliques and I continually go out of my way to strive to combine frequent posting with unpredicatble writing. Yes, we all have our own favourite themes, but for me it's largely a matter of not what you say but the way that you say it... at least if original ideas in others are to be drawn out. That's where the real benefit lies, in my view.
Having said that, I sometimes feel the clique is what appeals to some people most, so maybe I'm just falling into the trap of writing for "people like me".
I'm not sure that's a numbers game I want to analyse too much.
Cheers,
Charlie.
