Post subject: PR affects ranking? Wondering...
|

Just checked. I have a site with PR0 ranks number 1, beating PR4 and above. I don't quite understand now. I thought the higher PR you get, the higher your ranking is?
How could this happen? Have you guys experienced that? |

New sites frequently pop into top spots, then disappear, and then reappear later in lower spots. It's quite common and getting good quality links into your site from other sites will help to stabilize your listings.

PR has very little to do with ranking. What does is good anchor text, Backlinks and keyword density and keyword prominence on your pages. Make sure you are making use of the two most important aspects of a page, <title> and <h1> _________________ Jack Mitchell

Google is also updating PR quaterly now, so that PR 0 site is probably not a 0 in Google's book.
Also, keep in mind, PR is NOT EVERYTHING, I've said this before. It depends if those sites are targeting the phrase your searching for on their site and in the anchor text of their incoming links.

While PR alone doesn't affect rankings, backlinks do. And after all, PR is just a representation (not an exact measurement) of your backlinks. Saying PR affects your ranking is essential saying backlinks affect your ranking.
Basically, if you have 2 sites, and they are both identical. They have the same content and same anchor text for backlinks. My money is on the site with the higher PR ranking higher in the SERPs. Even if the site with the higher PR has less backlinks, if those links are of better QUALITY (ie. higher PR), then that's all that matters. _________________ Robert
