Post subject: Is the layout not important?
|
|
|
Hey Everyone,
I got a question, when I design for companies, groups, or even friends, the layout is the most important thing ( no content Is I know, but after that ).
But when I look at most affiliate sites, the sites all look thesame, and all cheap images etc...
So here's my question:
When starting a new affiliate site ( selling stuff of others ) is it not important to have a good layout? Or is it just a plus?
Kind Regards,
Klaas Koopman, as you can see I ask quite a lot of questions, if it's a problem, please let me know. |

I know a lot of affiliate sites that are simple text only, others that are unique designs, some with quality images and some not. You must not be looking at a variety of sites if you think they look all the same. Even the sites of posters on here cover a large variety.
Images and layout are there to help visitors and are secondary to the content in most instances, in my opinion. They should, however, offer a clean, somewhat professional appearance with easy navigation, and lots of room for good content.
I see a lot of templates that follow the heavy graphics route of many old style corporate sites or use a lot of flash ... these surprise me more than finding an affiliate site that consists of nothing but textual content.

I think the layout of a page is very important. You don't want a sloppy looking site try to affiliate market $200 handbags, it just won't fly. But I think the copy or the pre-selling of your products/services is much more important. You could still have a great affiliate site with a horrible design, but content that pre-sells brilliantly and converts.

These are the people that jump into affiliate marketing hoping to make it big fast. They throw up a site and hope to generate hundreds of dollars. If you want to make good money, then treat it like a business and design it with some grace and style.

Thank you people for reacting on this thread of mine. Well I have designed a layout, and hope it fits a bit what you people described:
Elegance, enough place for good content, and simple, with easy navigation, please let me know what you guys think:

IMO, the visitors that go to terribly designed sites want to leave so fast they'll click on anything, including Adsense and Affiliate links. _________________ Robert

Jack,
I just deleted another of your waffle messages that add nothing to the topic except your ad. It did NOT reply to anyone but was just three one-liners strung together.
Please contribute positively or "If you've got nothing to say, say nothing!" as previously advised.

Klaas,
You now appear to be asking for a site review with a URL inappropriate in this forum. I'll re-locate it.

Obviously design is important but it is not what drives traffic to your website. I think more and more large companies (and affiliates) are beginning to discover that just because they pay $10,000 to put together a flashy site does not mean that people will visit it. Read Ken Evoys 'Affiliate Master Course' to really understand the importance of CTPM -> Content, Traffic, Presell and Monetizing an affiliate website.
