That's what I'd like to think, too, but I feel like I'm swimming against a stronger tide of associations with audio than the written word, even when I am well acquainted with the speaker.
Nationality is just one way of judging people, anyway. Aren't we all influenced (rightly or wrongly) by various factors - words used, tone and pitch of voice, for example?
And that's without even seeing the person. I'm not even going to mention blue suits!
Personally, I'd rather consciously realise if I have a tendency to judge, as opposed to just let it happen anyway.

I'd like to think it says we're not afraid to admit we can recognise differences between people, because we're afraid that others will misinterpret it as "prejudice".
I don't feel political correctness is any way better at eliminating bias, and prefer admission of honest observation over blindfolds (and earplugs). I'm pretty sure subconscious associations transcend politics (and diplomacy, for that matter).
When it comes to self-analysis, I see it as a balance between "know your enemy" and Pandora's Box. What fun.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

In the latest edition of The Buzz, James gives a great plug for Gary (speedguide) and his book, How to Create Website Content Fast. James was talking about the importance of content and mentioned how Gary's book is great for helping jump start the process when you need content. I can personally vouch for the quality of Gary's book because I own it and, IMO, the kudos are well deserved.
Way to go Gary!

On the December 15 Buzz, James mentioned that he is using Gmail exclusively now. I've recently inherited another batch of invitations so if anyone wants one, send me a PM with an email address where I can send the invitation to.
There is a a thread in the General affiliate discussion specifically about Gmail but I thought I'd mention it here for any Buzz listeners who might be wondering where to find an invitation.

I have some too, in case Gail runs out, and there are more "Buzzers" out there who would like one. Just let me know.

I just tried to get into the Buzz, but it looks like it's out of order. Is it my computer or is he down. _________________ Gnoes |
