What are True High Rankings?
What does it truly mean to have a high ranking web site?

There are many web site owners that believe their site is properly ranked when in truth, it is not. There are also just as many web site owners that know they have no search engine presence but do not realize they have the means to achieve it.

Quite often, trying to understand what top search engine ranking should look like can be quite confusing. What does it mean to have a successfully promoted web site? What does it mean to truly possess a high position on search engines?

Let me paint a scenario for you. When most people have a web site built they, attempt to promote it in some way or another. Even though they did not design their site with search engine positioning in mind, they now expect to be properly ranked on search engines. They will also make sure that they submit their site to all the search engines they can.

Most of time, people will automatically submit their site with some type of submittal software. This software will deliver the web sites domain, (the URL) to hundreds of different search engines. Some people may even submit by hand to individual search engines.

Regardless of how the site is submitted, the end results will generally be the same. Because of the site's original design flaws, the site will never achieve key search engine placement - the kind of top search engine placement that reaches your target customers and guides them in on a daily basis. So what happened to the submission work that was done? What did the search engine do with the information?

Here is what generally happens.
After the sites URL was submitted, about half of the search engines will index the web site in one form or another (the other half we'll get to in a minute). That?s their job, to index at your site and place it on their search engine. However, because the site was not built with search engine optimization in mind, the pages will never be found and the site will disappear among millions of others. The sites owner now will complain and wonder why he is not located on any of the search engines.
