I am looking at 1 & 1 hosting and like to see if there is anyone out here that has some experience with them.

Thanks,

Chris Bradley

I actually got it free for 3 years with a trial offer they were doing earlier this year.

I'm dually impressed with the up-time of the server, and some of the configurations available for email.

I have one of the free hostings they offered last year, and a friend just purchased a managed server.

They are pretty fast and good uptime... but some of the configurations are a little tight, and they don't handle advanced scripting very well...

But for most folks, it is a good hosting package.

I have two 1and1 accounts with 10 domains and I am quite impressed with them.

I work on a managed server @ 1&1 for a client of mine and it's been flawless thus far...(minus a couple of APACHE restarts but they were more casued by us).

If you need too host several domains they offer a stellar setup for that purpose compared too almost any other re-seller accts available.

For single domains...they're still great but there are lots of others out there too that are just as competitive...

In a Nutshell...you're not making a Bad move looking at 1&1 and if you're looking at a larger acct for 10+ domains...it's the place to be.

I have been using 1and1 for about 2months. I like everything so far EXCEPT their LOG file setup. It is very, very unusable and their supposed webstatistics software installed on 1and1 is very inaccurate. The tech support was not helpful in resolving this issue. They have ftp access to a weekly log file (daily is much better) unfortunately it is impossible to get the complete LOG file off their server as they remove the previous week when the new week LOG starts.

On the recommendation of a friend I started a site on 1&1 and so far am very happy, but it's only been about a month. I like the phone contact they have if needed.
They do have an affiliate program if you use them.
I have 3 hosts,
GoDaddy Very pleased
1&1 pleased (not more since I haven't had them long enough to say more)
Edson.net. Not all that happy. Poor customer service and phones go to an answering machine.

Sorry, haven't used 1 & 1, as it took them 4 days to reply to my pre-sales questions.

I've taken to bragging about the host I settled on: micfo.com

I get 20 unique domains, for $40/mo. Comes with free Urchin stats for all domains, and many features within the Cpanel control panel.
