Hi all, Paul Short here.
I've been dropping by for quite some time now and never really interacted before. I thought this would be an appropriate time since I'm going through a transition with my online business right now. Allow me to give you all a little background info:
I've been doing business online for over 7 years now. Up until a few months back, I ran a service business. I was an SEO specialist.
The service business has taken it's toll on me though. The repetition, the same old same old thing every day... I was burnt out and needed a change.
So I took up blogging as more of a theraputic thing than anything else and became absolutely fascinated at the possibilities. Now, with the old SEO roots still firmly planted I saw an opportunity + the fact that I've always wanted to own my own search engine/human edited directory.
The blogosphere was my chance so I grabbed the opportunity and started my GetBlogs site (see my sig. file) just over a month ago. It's grown nicely since then and I have to say it's the only site I've ever truly enjoyed building, and the people whom I've met as a result are phenominal. Many of them I now consider close friends.
I also have several other sites, mostly internet marketing related, that are now sitting idle. These sites have potential but I would like to more or less put them on autopilot and convert them into passive income generators.
Thus, my appearance here today.
I already know the basics, and some of the more advanced techniques of promoting affiliate programs, so I'm not a total virgin on the subject. But I firmly believe that in order to become successful in an industry, one must immerse oneself into that industry, and share knowledge with others in exchange for knowledge of equal or greater value.
So if anyone here has any questions about SEO, Blogs and blogging as it relates to internet marketing in general, or my beliefs and opinions on ethics in ebusiness, ask away!
And in return, if you have knowledge pertaining to starting and running an affiliate marketing business, or tips on the finer points of making Adsense ads or SearchFeed ads more profitable, I would appreciate a few pointers.
There's nothing like wallowing in the trenches with the real players in the business to gain first hand know-how and experience on a new industry. And that's what I plan on doing here on the AssociatePrograms.com forum.
I look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with you all.
Thanks for reading my story.
Sincerely,

Your site looked very promising. I submitted my blog address to you, and I will certainly put up a link to you within my site.
I will also place a link to your site in one of my upcoming blog entries (A total of 1.6 million subscribers to the blog site (NOT my blog, by all means, but the site that is marketing it ) Maybe it can help boost a little
Actually, for all others, you will find my blog here, if you are interested:
Great to see you here too. <Paul is an Advisor at private membership website on blogging - TurningIdeasIntoDollars.com with Lynn Terry and Andre Chaperon>
It's interesting to read your introduction. I am no expert on affiliate marketing. Though I do have some 'mini content sites'. But I will consider your offer. Some of my sites are fantastic and growing ... a few totally flop ... Could use some it if you could shed some light.
And I also realized that you subscribed to my MoneyClicking. Again, not an expert - perhaps you could comment my methods from that book.
Alf, the mention on your site is very much appreciated. Thanks.
Kidino, I'm reading your ebook in small spurts right now and haven't gotten all the way through... but from what I've read so far, I think it's awesome. I'll send you a more complete review as soon as I'm done.
Right now I'm struggling with setting up a double opt-in newsletter script. It works perfectly on the server, but customizing everything is proving to be a chore.
Thanks Guys for the kind words!
Sincerely,
Paul Short

I have been through that - struggling with opt-in scripts.
I have only 100 subscribers that time and I think I was wasting too much time going the DIY method (because I am a lazy web programmer). So I settled for remote hosted solution and every was up and running in 15 minutes.
At first I tried the famous 'G' company. But now I have switched to Email Aces. Many email servers hated the 'G' company.
Gary Ambrose from Email Aces have been a fantastic support. Sometime he hangs around at Lynn's SSWT forum.
I think if you have more than 5000 subscribers, you can start thinking about hosting it yourself. Lesser than that, I think it's too much trouble.
And I also discovered, hosting your own mailing list - you need a good web host that allows mailing list scripts. And also have PHP running at full mode - not safe mode. Some web host are totally against it no matter whether you spam or not.
During my struggle, I approached a company about opening a reseller hosting account. And I also mentioned about my intention to host a mailing list. Also told them about how I did double opt-in, will not spam, etc ... they won't let me in.
And I think with companies like that, perhaps one or two broadcast, you may get away with it. But they can delete your account and your list anytime. That gives me the creeps.
