Good day,

I've been using wysiwyg editors over the last couple of years- for example: websitewizard.com.

But my ideas for websites have now gone way beyond what that or other services can provide.

As someone that has a basic understanding of development what would you suggest I purchase to design and launch many different websites?

I'm currently looking at Front Page 2003.

Any other programs out there? What would you suggest?

Thank you so much!!!

As someone who's always hand-coded, I can't offer any recommendations, but what exactly do you need an editor for?

Haven't you got some good templates from existing sites that you can simply paste the new text and graphic source into? Just take a look at the source code you already have, resave it on your PC and play around with it.

Sorry if I'm missing the point, but that's how I see it.

All the best,
Charlie.

I recommend a combination of FrontPage and Homesite (or any other text editor). Use FrontPage at first to your page layouts and positioning with tables. Add all text with no formatting.

Then use your text editor to "fine tune" the code and add your CSS code for the text and perhaps a few other items.

I'm using FrontPage 2002, I understand the latest version has more CSS features though so if you get the latest version it might be good for your CSS stuff as well.

As a professional design house we would NEVER use FrontPage to publish any sites but it might be fine in the amateur world so you might want to look into that (it's too proprietary for our needs).

I think Debs uses the Martell system that recommends FrontPage and I assume they are publishing with it as well so she could shed light on that.

Martell recommends FP because of the price, I use Dreamweaver. I like not having to deal with the proprietary stuff FP puts in, but still keep FP for use if needed.

For just starting out FP is fine. If you are going to do web design as a business, you need something much more hefty than FP.

I use Dreamweaver MX. FrontPage just doesn't cut it when it comes to actual coding. Dreamweaver also supports php which is what ive been using nowadays.

Cool, thanks everyone.

Well, Front Page it is. From others I've talked to, there's not too much of a learning curve to it. And hey, if I get stuck, I can always come back here right!?

Again, thank you very much!
