Post subject: My first CJ check
|
|
|
Hi,
I got my first CJ check like a month ago. And it was a veeeerry long wait. I guess for some senior CJ affiliates here, you know that they hold your first few checks for sometime just to make sure. I guess most affiliate programs do. Well, that seems fair.
And they also hold your commissions for about 30 days before you can get the check. This apply to all affiliates right. I guess this is fair as well, in case of charge backs, frauds, etc ...
After the long commission clearing process plus some extra for first few checks, I have to wait for the delivery. I live in an Asian country, so it takes sometime for the mail to arrive. And being in an Asian country, I opt for SGD. They don't offer TT or wire to my country. I wish they do.
So .... when the check (which is actually a OCBC Singapore bank draft) arrived, you would have to bank it in. Bear in mind that I do not live in Singapore. So, the transaction takes up another 3 - 4 weeks.
Few ... that was quite long story shortened. I guess it will take about >2 months to get my first few checks. I guess, I have to wait until things are becoming to be regular. Commissions are rising though. So I am not complaining. Just pointing out to some "out of US/Canada affiliates" ... if there are any.
Love affiliate marketing ... will make more sites ... !!!

Didn't realize your replies here. Sorry guys ...
BTW ...
I'm coming into my 3rd cheque now and it's getting bigger and bigger. The cheque is getting regular now. In CJ, the cut off the commission period processing is on the 20th and you'll get all that commission on the 20th on the next month. Like I said, they hold it for 30 days, just case of frauds, returns, etc ... I still have to wait the 30 days but the cheques get here faster now. They post the cheque on the 20th or the 21st of the month and the cheques arrive on the 27th at my place. Then, the clearing processing only takes about 2 weeks.
OK ... what the hell. I am from Malaysia and I opt for the Singapore Dollar option. Meaning, the commission exchange goes from USD > SGD > MYR. For that, I lose around $5.00USD. And the process of depositing the cheque requires another $7.50MYR (around $2.00USD) for processing and stamp duty.

Thanks for the advise. Planning on developing more pages and more sites. I aim to get the commission up to 4 figures soon. In my place, you really can live on $1000USD. It's like 3 times new grad gets on their first job. But I plan to do more than that before deciding on quitting my day job. Wish me luck.

Should I tell or shouldn't I? Well, it's the few computer modding merchants. One of them has unlimited action and bigger commission and better conversion too.

I realize that with Clickbank. Being a Malaysian, I can't buy anything from them. But I do have a Clickbank account, which rather dormant right now. Not doing or promoting anything on Clickbank. I think I registered with them long time ago, before they started this policy on geographic shoppers. _________________ Iszuddin Ismail aka Kidino

It may be a little expensive, however a solution to the "not living in the US" problem is to set-up a US Corporation. It's quite simple to do.
A company like (http://www.nvinc.com) will handle all the paperwork, help you to establish a US bank account and will help you obtain a US tax ID number.
Then, you will operate as a US Corporation. This strategy has solved the "not living in the US" problem for many. _________________ Warmly,

2 weeks to process and just $7.50MYR charge? I'm from Malaysia too and I use BCB - they charge $10MYR & take 4 to 5 weeks to clear. I can use Maybank as they only take 2 weeks, but the charges are $10USD (deduct from cheque) plus anther $25.15MYR. |

Ahh ... !! Nice to know that there's another fellow affiliate from my origin. I use Maybank. They only charge that 7.50MYR I said. My branch is the Phileo Promenade, Jln TAR. Since we're both in this and we're both in Msia, perhaps we could go out and get some teh tarik someday and chat. _________________ Iszuddin Ismail aka Kidino

This is true and very effective. I live in Belgium and I incorporated a LLC company in Delaware I also got a US bank account at bancorp.com .
Everything was done online rater quickly , I also have an american phone number I got it from J2.com.
All checks go to my us office (it cost 300 US dollars a year/maintenance fee) and the money is then transfered in my US bank account.
In belgium I have a Mastercard so I can get the money from an ATM for large sum I do wire transfer .
The very good thing when you have your own american corporation is that you can apply to every programs available in the US.

Corporations are very viable options for enabling you to expand your reach into more merchant programs. The thing you need to be concerned about, however, is the tax situation.
You will need to file an annual tax return, and pay applicable US taxes. Tax return preparation may be something covered in the $300 annual fee, I don't know. I know any taxes owed, however, would be in addition to the preparation.
Disclaimer: For specific advise on corporations used in this manner, you should seek the advice of a qualified tax accountant and corporate lawyer.

Thanks for the info, everyone.
I looked into this myself, a lttle over a year ago, but from the UK end. I was told at the time that that it was extremely difficult for "foreigners" to set up corporations in America since Sep 11th, 2001.
It looks like things are somewhat simpler now, if they ever really were as difficult as I was led to believe.
Good news, anyway.
All the best,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

Hi Charlie,
I set up my US corporation in december 2002 at http://www2.valisinternational.com/
They are very professional. You will need a copy of your visa that's all.
