hi all,
I applied to Commission Junction and was approved instantly. I am not from US. I got a email from CJ that contains the following form:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf
They asked me to fill in the form and fax it back to them. BUt for the section 6: " US tax payer indentification number, if required(see instructions), with two check box : "SSN or ITIN" and "EIN". I am confused about this section. Initially i thought this form is sent to non US affiliate to apply for EIN number. and how they are requesting for EIN number? where should i apply then?

thanks.

I found the form a bit confusing too.

The way I read it, "if required" means "if applicable" and it doesn't aply to you, so just leave that bit blank.

Yes. I've always filled in the absolute minimum in the form and never had any problems.
