Perhaps this a question for Google, but I thought someone here might know...
I've got a Google PPC campaign going and there's a keyword that only has 5 other ads going. When a visitor is searching on that keyword, all 6 ads are shown (including mine) when the first page comes up. Then when the visitor clicks NEXT PAGE, the SAME 6 ads are shown again.
Does that count as an additional impression for each time the visitor clicks NEXT PAGE and the same ads appear? So one visitor could click through 10 pages and you'd be tagged for 0 clicks out of 10 impressions?

If someone visits your site and sees two pages and you have the same ad on both pages, that's two impressions.
That's how impressions are usually counted. I'm guessing that's the method Google uses. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks, Allan. That's what I was afraid of. I'm picturing someone who is searching through a LONG list of non-sponsored links on Google, clicking page after page and not even looking at the ads that pop up each time the page changes. Oh well. I'm sure glad it's pay-per-click and not pay-per-impression! _________________ Bonnie Discover Affiliate "Landmines" that Bring In More Money!
I have a few keywords like that too and really, I'm not that worried about it. For one, most people stay on that first page. The one's who don't usually stop by the second or maybe the third page. So that's two or three impressions. No big loss. In fact, they might start paying more attention to the ads if they're not finding what they want in the natural results.
As you may be aware, Google doesn't check the performance of your keywords until one word in the group gets 1,000 impressions. In such an uncompetitive area there probably aren't all that many searches anyway, so if one person decides to click through 15 pages of results that doesn't hurt you too much. All you need is 5 clicks out of those 1,000 impressions to stay in the game. Sometimes less.
I hope that's helpful info. _________________ Webmaster Wear Amusing t-shirts for webmasters, online marketers, and internet junkies.
