Hello. I'm placing product links in my site currently. I have a page with thumbnail image links with a descriptive text link underneath each pic. The links are via CJ.

Which is the best/preferred action- have the product detail from the provider open in a new web browser or not?

I was thinking not, because the viewer would leave my site. On the other hand would they be more annoyed with a new window? Is this blocked by a pop-up blocker or is it considered something else?

Thanks
Mel

If the link they click leads to a page on your site, open in the same window. If the link leads off your site, like to a merchant, then I recommend you have it open in a new window. You do this by adding the code

target="_blank"

to the link code, at the end of the <a href...> tag, just before the ending > is good.

This is not viewed as a popup, and still keeps your site active. If they close the merchant window, your site window is just underneath.

Thanks debs. That is the answer I was looking for. I'm not sure if you use CJ at all, but whenever you request html it has an option box to have the seperate browser open. Though I do appreciate the HTML help for future reference.

Also, thanks for clearing up the pop-up question!
