Hello!

I did not get any help yet on a Dreamweaver Forum, so I thought Debs are someone else can help clue me in. Is it true that I can only have one nav. bar in Dreamweaver?

I have a horz. menu across the top of my site set up as the nav. bar. I also have a menu down the left side. How can I make it so I do not have to edit the tags on each and every page. I must be missing something!

Mel, I use the library feature of Dreamweaver to set up my navigation. I would set one library item for the top nav and one for the side nav. Then include the library item on each page you create. If you need to update your menu, you do it via the library item, and it carries through out all your pages. Then just reupload all the pages to your site.

You can have as many navigation items on a page aw you want, however, if you use javascript menus (also known as DHTML), one per page is all you should do as the code can get very heavy and take too much time to load. I would recommend you stay with simple text menus. You can jazz these up using CSS hover effects and they will still load better than DHTML menus.

Hope this helps,
Debs

Thank you so much Debs. You have given me a lot to think about. I have to read more about using the Library b/c on my first try, I did not quite use it right. I also have to learn more about CSS b/c my side menu uses roll-overs.

I guess the extra time it is taking to do my first site is worth the learning experiences! Thanks again!

Thanks again Debs. I did some more thinking and bought a Dreamweaver book today. I think I am going to back up and start my site from scratch. I think the template I was using had a lot of "junk" that I really don't need. At least I have a better Idea of how to set my content up after this first try. I also want to read up a little more on SEO.

Thanks again
Mel
