Hi,
I've been awhile in this forum, but haven't introduce myself.
My name is Mohamad Zaki Hussein, but you could call me Zaki. I come from a third-world country, i.e. Indonesia, that has been chaotic and in crisis until now.
I work my offline job as a kind of social worker. While I heard many people go into online business because they want to get out from their offline job, my first reason to go into online business is in the reverse side. I'm not earning a good income from my offline job, but I love it and I don't want to change it with other offline work for better wages. That's why I enter this world of online business to get some additional income and if it is possible in the long term, to make this as my main source of income.
Another reason is that because I love and a kind of addicted to the internet. I've been using the internet since 1995, when I was still in college. I used it mainly to find references (books, articles, websites, etc.) and to build relations with like-minded people from my country or from abroad. Since I use the internet almost everyday, then one day this idea came into my mind: "why not transforming this kind of hobby into some money-making activities."
While I've been using the internet since 1995, I'm a newbie in online business. I'm just entering this realm of online business around April 2004 and that's only 4 months from now. That's why I join this forum, because I need to educate myself about online business, especially about affiliate business -- since this is the only online business that I do up till now.

Dear Justin and Allan,
Thanks for the responses.
You're right Allan about the advantage that I could get from my country's currency exchange rate with US dollars. In fact, I forgot to mention that the exchange rate is also one of my reason why I'm entering the world of online business.
But there are also some disadvantages. For example, I could not register with Paypal because my country is not listed in it. I don't know for sure, but maybe this is because my country is well-known for internet "fraud" -- I heard from a netpreneuer that comes from my country that Indonesia is well-known for fraud.
Yes, it is well known and caused me all sorts of problems with my PayPal account because I run my net business from home but home is now in East Malaysia - which is NOT part of Indonesia but sets off alarm bells all over the place.
*sigh*
By the way, I visitied Pontianak a few months ago - lovely people but sheesh, wont be returning!
Ex-pat from the UK, running 3 websites, 1 a non commercial passion site, one a general info site and also I write ;content' for people ($20 for 750 words)
I have the advantage of being a native English speaker but can get 3.8 RM for the dollar.
