Anyone ever used WebPosition Gold? Check out http://www.web-positiongold.com/
Does it really work? Is it good? Is it worth it?
Thanks. |

Thanks for the kind reply Allan
Well actually I wasn't really asking whether the link worked or not. I was asking if the product (software) of WebPosition Gold really does work, and if it's worth the money?
Sorry for being unclear.
Thanks! |

I used WPG for about a month at which point I asked for, and got, my money back.
I thought its focus was mainly on getting the on-page factors right as compared to others who were ranking in the top 10. I didn't think there was anything addressed in terms of getting links in from other sites, which I've come to realize is the most important aspect of SEO.
There was this "Page Generator" module that looked like it would be used to generate doorway-type pages. That was useless to me as I don't want to go down that path.
There was one useful module and that was the Rank Analyzer. It allowed you to check your positions on multiple keywords across the major engines. However, I think other products are cheaper that do the same thing if that is all you want.
The Upload Manager module I didn't use. I thought that was redundant of other FTP programs and what you get with Frontpage, Dreamweaver, etc. Plus, I was worried it would screw up the settings on Frontpage (which I use).
I used the Submitter module to submit my webpages for one of my sites but I think now that it's a waste of time to submit to engines without any incoming links first. So, I don't think that is very useful.
Traffic Analyzer module actually uses Hitslink to track hits. If you get the trial and then get the full version, you'll get 120 days of Hitslink for free. Then you'll have to pay $10 a month up. I do use Hitslink, it's very useful IMO.
(Note: I noticed on the HTML that there was an "<IMG SRC" tag pointing to Hitslink.com in the javascript. I hope this doesn't cause PR leak since it is on every page of my site. Anyone have any thoughts?)
When you sign up, they'll also hit you with a $99 "knowledge base" upgrade to ensure you get the latest database comparison for site analysis for a year (you get 3 months free). IMO, WPG is useless without this.
Finally, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't like writing content based on a set of rules in the bodytext (excluding titles). I just watch to see that I've used enough of the KW intermittently throughout without sounding awkward.
These are my thoughts. I'm looking into another product that was recommended by Planet Ocean - Optilink. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? It's expensive at $149 but seems to be a useful tool to get you leads for link partners. Although, an important part of the program may now be limited since Google's devalued the usefulness of its backlinks check function.
Just my thoughts. |

I too used WP Gold for about a month and asked for a refund. My experiences / opinions are exactly the same as Phil's.

It swould be better to start a new topic asking that question, so that this thread stays on the topic of WPG. _________________ Allan Gardyne

There are many freely available online tools which enable you to do this. For example, rankwhere.com |

Allan, what an interesting site you posted. Looking at it, it enables you to checkout how many other domains are hosted on your webservers. Something the webhosting companies wouldn't want you to know about |
