Hi all,
I've been lurking while I've been building my very first site, and I'd like to take advantage of the fantastic advice all of you have to offer. The site is www.profitpiggy.com and is devoted to introducing new investors to some of the more popular real estate investing strategies.
I'm looking for general opinions on layout, content, design, etc. Oh, and before you say "Oh my God, it's so, so...PINK!", please remember the name of the site
Thanks!
P.S. I just realized that the 'partner sites' page doesn't work yet. I'll need to fix that when I get home. Actually, I don't yet have any partner sites, so I'm not entirely sure what to put on this page. Any suggestions? |

Hi! I really like the ease of use and clean layout. The pink is not really "that" bad |

Good site! You've done an excellent job at creating an atmosphere of trust. If I was in real estate and you recommend something, I'd give it serious consideration.
I particularly like your voice - it's comfortable and comforting to those who think of real estate as high risk. Only my opinion, but first line, second paragraph of About Us ... faltered. No big deal, because people so often 'skip judiciously' but since 'About Us' establishes your authority, it might be worth cleaning that up.
Love the pink. It's almost signature stuff. Actually, did you try setting the entire background color at pink? (Leaving the inside text in white, of course). It's just a layout/graphics idea, but with this layout, you don't really take advantage of the pink. It's kind of inconsequential trim. There's something a little bolder, that speaks of confidence, in using more pink. I admit, I didn't try it. Just exploring my instincts.
On your nav bar ... another 'just a suggestion.' Consider losing the title "Main Menu" and separating Investment Techniques from the Resources. |

Thanks meleemel and SFGal for your suggestions and comments, they're really very helpful.
SFGal, I'm glad you like my 'voice' on the site. I was trying to go for a conversational feel on the site, mostly because that's just the way I am in the non-cyber world. I was hoping it would foster trust, and I'm glad that it appears to be working.
You're right about that second paragraph - I'll have to work on that. As for going all pink, I'll admit I hadn't considered that. I was worried that I had too much pink already! However, I'll experiment a little bit and see how it turns out.
Thanks again for the comments, and I look forward to reading more

Canuck, I would suggest a pig graphic, maybe with a stock graph and/or money, to carry the pink pig theme further ... the first question I had was how does profitpiggy relate to your theme? I think a pink pig with money or stock graphic tied in will help clarify your brand as well as bring pink into the brand mix as well.

Wow, you guys are fantastic! Can I use that logo? It looks great!
Your input and kind words have really inspired me to do my best with this site, and others that follow. Any other comments or suggestions are always welcome.
Thanks again!

I had more time to look through your site this afternoon and I really enjoyed it. I say fix all those houses up!! Umm...did I mention I have degrees in this area LOL
One thing that stood out to me this time was how nice your google ads look. A lot of sites I have been to have just "plopped" them in and they have no continuity with the site. You achieved this!
Mel
PS Bring on the PIG!!!! I was on another site today that had a pig- your's is much cooler! |

How fun you like the pig!
Debs, I'm surprised you're not affiliated (ooo.!) with some Fortune 500 co. Your perceptiveness impresses me over and over again. I've learned so much so quickly from you and Allen. Gosh. Anyway, that's exactly what I thought - do a pig that's just kicking back, enjoying his success.
I cleaned the pig up (although I didn't post it to the website. ) and did a slightly different version. Color flow's corrected, lines are cleaned up, blah blah blah.
So of course. Just PM me(or I forget how what information I put in my profile ... email?) Let me know how you'd like it sent, dimensions, that sort of stuff. |

Hi all,
I've put up a temporary site with SFGal's awesome logo. What do you think?

Awesome, SFGal WTG!
Nice idea Mel ... but it will increase load time as the logo would then have to download for each change that is done. Maybe a consideration once things get moving for Canuck

Mel, what a great idea! Like Debs says though, I guess it's best to wait until things start picking up, but it's definitely an idea I'd implement down the road.
SFGal, I think you've earned yourself a bit of a fanclub here. I know I'm a member! Anyway, I attempted to PM you, so please let me know if you didn't get it.
Thanks,
Canuck |
