Post subject: Newbie question

Hi,
I am a newbie into the field of Affiliate Marketing.
Do I have to build the website first before I can apply to become an affiliate? Or can I apply even before I build my site?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Most affiliate programs want the site live and complete before they
will approve your participation. This includes brokers, like Commission Junction, Linkshare, etc., as well as direct advertisers. Without the website being live and complete, they would have no way to judge whether your site fits into their advertising program.
Hope this helps,

Some affiliate merchants will approve you automatically, without seeing a web site. However, many want to check that you have built a professional looking site, and some want to know how many visitors a month your site is getting.
That seems fair enough to me. After all, you're applying to be their representative.
My assistant Rupert has written two articles describing step-by-step the process he went through in building two successful affiliate sites:

Hope that helps. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Debs and Allan.
You are right. It would make sense for them to want to see my site before allowing me to represent them.
I have been thinking about Site Build It and have been vacillating about buying it. I think I will invest in it - I have everything to gain and a few hundred dollars to lose.
Rupert's experiment gives me heart.
I will be a frequent visitor here asking questions and help.
